Anansi takes its name from the West African and Caribbean spider-trickster of folklore, and the bar leans into storytelling as its organising idea — its own site describes it as a place where love is poured into every detail, celebrating storytelling and craftsmanship. It occupies Suite 4000 at 2700 East College Avenue, a stretch that carries a Decatur postal address but which the bar itself, and the press, place in Avondale Estates. The room is small, dark and rule-bound in a way that signals what kind of evening it wants to host: over-21s only, physical identification, no outside beverages, no smoking or vaping, and no flash photography, so the lighting stays as designed. It opens at six every night except Sunday and runs to midnight midweek, one on Thursday and two on Friday and Saturday.

The alcohol-free programme is the reason it appears here. Rather than improvising substitutions, Anansi keeps a titled non-alcoholic menu — the Ikenice Choice — assembled entirely on Lyre's non-alcoholic spirits, which gives the drinks a consistent base rather than leaving each one to be reinvented. DiningOut, reviewing Atlanta's zero-proof bars in 2026, called the non-alcoholic espresso martini the standout: frothy, bitter and toasted without the syrupy aftertaste that follows most versions around. The amaretto sour is the other named pour, whipped with aquafaba so that it carries the same foam and mouthfeel as an egg-white sour. Both come out of the same station and in the same glassware as the alcoholic list. The bar is fully licensed and the majority of its trade is alcoholic, which places it at a four rather than a five, but the non-alcoholic list is titled, branded and permanent — a meaningfully higher standard than a bar that will "make you something" if you ask. One practical note on the address: the postal line reads Decatur and the postcode is 30030, but the bar's own website and the local press both place it in Avondale Estates, and we have used the neighbourhood the venue itself uses. It is a short walk from the Avondale MARTA station either way.
