Hop City Craft Beer & Wine

Hop City Craft Beer & Wine was founded by Kraig Torres in 2009, and the Krog District shop at 99 Krog Street pairs a bottle shop with a full bar pouring dozens of rotating drafts. There are now four locations — Krog District and West End in Atlanta, plus Fayetteville and Birmingham, Alabama — and the Krog room sits directly on the Eastside BeltLine trail, which is the practical detail: it is a stop you can walk or cycle to mid-route.

For a non-drinker it works two ways at once, and that combination is rare. The bar runs a dedicated non-alcoholic draft line, rotating between Untitled Art and Athletic Brewing, so you can order a pour and sit at the bar rather than buying a can and leaving. Getting NA beer on draft at all is uncommon — it needs a line, a keg and the turnover to justify both — and it changes the experience from carrying a bottle around to being served like everyone else.

The retail shelf is one of the broadest in the city. Athletic Brewing across Free Wave, Run Wild and Upside Dawn; Untitled Art; Guinness 0.0; Lagunitas Hoppy Refresher; Brooklyn Special Effects; Best Day; Ghia; and St. Agrestis Phony Negroni, with Sober Carpenter sold as singles so you can try one without committing to a four-pack. It also stocks Halfway Crooks' Brevet Pils, the non-alcoholic German-style pilsner brewed a couple of miles away in Summerhill — worth knowing if you want to drink locally made NA beer rather than shipped-in national brands.

The Krog bottle shop runs Monday to Saturday from 10am to 9pm and Sunday from 12:30pm to 7pm, with the bar keeping slightly different hours. Single-can pricing on much of the NA range makes it a genuinely low-risk place to work out what you actually like.
