Bright Nights Social is an alcohol-free nightlife series and newsletter founded by Sam Bail, who calls herself New York City's "Sober Party Girl." It launched around 2023 as Third Place Bar and rebranded to Bright Nights Social in early 2026, having hosted nearly 100 events over roughly three years. It is a pop-up, not a fixed bar: events move between venues across NYC (recent hosts include McCarren Parkhouse and Mockingbird), with no permanent address. The programming spans sober dance parties, live music, tea tastings, craft and cooking nights, and hands-on alcohol-free mixology workshops for the public, private groups, and corporate teams. Bail has said most attendees aren't sober or even sober-curious — the aim is simply a night out where alcohol isn't the default. In December 2025–January 2026, Bright Nights Social teamed with non-alcoholic bottle shop Boisson to launch "NYC's Best Bars for NA," the city's first awards program recognizing excellence in alcohol-free hospitality. Alongside the events, Bail publishes the widely read "Bright Nights, Big City" Substack (6,000+ subscribers), a weekly Monday guide to sober-friendly nightlife in NYC.

I don't drink, but I still wanted nightlife — dancing, music, meeting new people, getting out of the house on a Friday or Saturday night.
