Cafe La Trova

Cafe La Trova occupies a corner site at 971 SW 8th Street on Calle Ocho, in the heart of Little Havana, and is the bar most associated with the revival of the Cuban cantinero style. The accolades listed on the venue's own site are unusually deep for a Miami bar: #24 on the World's 50 Best Bars in 2023, #66 in 2024 and #82 in 2025; #42 on North America's 50 Best Bars in 2024, 2025 and 2026; #1 Best Bar in the South in 2022; and the Roku Industry Icon award to co-founder Julio Cabrera in 2023. Service starts at 4pm every day and runs to midnight, or 2am on Friday and Saturday.

The alcohol-free offering is short and honest about what it is: a two-drink mocktail section on the bar menu, both at $10, sitting under a much longer cocktail list. The Yumislaidy is the fresher of the two — pineapple juice, agave syrup, lime juice and cucumber juice lengthened with soda water — and drinks like a Cuban take on a cooler. The Mexican Cooler is the more interesting build for anyone who misses the shape of a real drink: it uses Almave Blanco, the distilled non-alcoholic blue agave spirit, with a spicy agave syrup, lime juice and ginger beer, so it carries heat and agave weight rather than just fruit.
