Gufo (Italian for "owl") is a modern Italian restaurant, cafe, and bar that opened on July 28, 2023, as Coda Restaurant Group's first venture into Cambridge, joining its sibling spots SRV, The Salty Pig, and Baleia. Set in East Cambridge at 660 Cambridge St, the all-day space runs as a counter-service cafe by day and a sit-down restaurant by night, with a 50-seat all-weather patio and a bocce court, and a menu of seasonal pizzas and handmade pastas led by executive chef Andrew Hebert. The drinks program, overseen by Coda bar director John Benevides, includes a full section of zero- and low-proof cocktails built on house-infused spirits and shrubs, all priced at $14 and under. Confirmed non-alcoholic pours include the Garden Party (green tea, basil, lemon, pineapple), the Non-Baldi (Stappi red bitter with orange), the Snap Back (snap pea, salted lime, soda), and the Trade Route (Lucano N/A amaro, grapefruit, sumac, agave). The list is rounded out with NA beer and wine options such as Notch non-alcoholic hazy IPA, Al's non-alcoholic lager, and non-alcoholic blends from Wander & Found and Odd Bird. Benevides told WBUR that demand for non-alcoholic drinks across the group has "exploded" by roughly 300% this year, now making up about 5% of all drink orders. The result is a genuinely full bar where guests can build a sober or low-ABV evening rather than settle for a single token mocktail.
