Hotel Neptune Bar

This is the cocktail bar at 122 Fountain Street in Downcity Providence, tucked behind a curtain off the lobby of a 52-room boutique hotel. A name note first, because it will save you confusion: the hotel opened as The Dean, ran under that name for eleven years, and rebranded to Neptune — an Ash hotel — on 2 June 2026. The bar traded for years as The Dean Bar and much of the local coverage still calls it that. Google and the hotel's own site have moved to the Neptune naming. Same room, same curtain, same address.

The bar is done in a European style — dark, compact, built for conversation rather than volume. Its hours have narrowed sharply since we first listed it, and the correction is worth stating plainly: we previously recorded a full week here, running to 1am midweek and 2am at weekends. The hotel now publishes this room as open Friday and Saturday only, 5pm to close, and Google's listing adds a Thursday with a midnight close. Those late weekday hours we had belong to Boombox, the karaoke den downstairs, which is the room in this building that genuinely runs to 2am. Treat the bar as a weekend room and ring ahead for a midweek visit.

Two non-alcoholic builds are documented in current Providence coverage. One is a Paloma made with grapefruit and an agave alternative in place of tequila, which keeps the drink's dry, slightly bitter character rather than sweetening it. The other is a zero-proof Cosmopolitan. Both are recognisable classics rendered without spirit rather than invented mocktails, which suits a bar whose main list runs to European classics.

The wider building is worth knowing about: alongside this bar, Neptune houses a coffee shop in its lobby library, a full-service restaurant, and Boombox, a karaoke den with private singing rooms and its own bar. A new restaurant and bar concept has been announced for the hotel, so expect the ground floor to keep changing.
