John's Marketplace opened its Powell Boulevard store on July 3, 2020, the eastside location of a Portland bottle-shop business that has been trading for more than two decades. It works as both retailer and bar: an indoor bar area, indoor and outdoor seating, an outdoor draft window facing the adjacent "The Original" food cart pod, and shelves that Untappd files under beer store, beer garden, wine shop and beer bar. It is one of two remaining locations — the other is Multnomah Village at 3535 SW Multnomah Blvd — after the company closed its Beaverton store on December 31, 2025.

The non-alcoholic side is a deliberate, standing program rather than a shelf of leftovers, though it is run at company level rather than built specifically for this store. "Non-Alc" is one of the top-level categories in the shop's own navigation, alongside beer, wine and cider, with its own landing page; owner Paul Petros told a March 2026 trade interview that non-alcoholic drinks had been moved into prime refrigerated shelf space ahead of hard seltzer, and that "NA is permanent. It's here to stay." Travel Oregon describes the selection as covering non-alcoholic spirits, beer, wine and mixers. Programming at this address goes back years: a free Dry January "Booze-Free Fest" with roughly 20 vendors on January 4, 2025, and non-alcoholic producer tastings on site since at least January 2023. Two things are worth knowing before a trip: this is an alcohol-forward bottle shop and beer bar that happens to carry a strong non-alcoholic range, not an alcohol-free space; and because the business runs no online catalogue, the exact size of that range and the specific brands in stock on any given day are not documented anywhere — call ahead if you are after something particular.

NA is permanent. It's here to stay.
