Killjoy Berry Hill

Killjoy Berry Hill is the second location of Killjoy, the alcohol-free bottle shop founded by Stephanie Styll, who stopped drinking in 2020 and launched the business in 2023. The path is worth tracing because it is the standard arc for this category done well: a pop-up in Wedgewood-Houston first, then a permanent retail store in East Nashville, and in October 2025 this roughly thousand-square-foot shop in Berry Hill — the neighbourhood where the original idea took shape. Killjoy bills itself as Nashville's first booze-free beverage shop and, by Styll's account, the only alcohol-free retail business of its kind in the city.

The shop sells exclusively non-alcoholic products: beer, wine, spirits and functional beverages, the last category covering adaptogenic drinks, THC and CBD options and herbal preparations. Best Day Brewing is among the brands stocked. The critical feature is on-site sampling — customers can taste before they buy — which addresses the single biggest barrier in non-alcoholic retail. These products are expensive and wildly inconsistent between brands, and one bad $30 bottle is enough to persuade somebody the whole category is a scam. A shop that lets you taste first is doing something a website fundamentally cannot.

The stated mission goes beyond retail. Styll frames it as cultural work: "We just want to serve the Nashville community and help to build community and help to change the culture around drinking in Nashville." That ambition is pointed in a city whose national image is bachelorette parties and Broadway honky-tonks, and where the pressure to drink is more sustained than in most places. Two shops open and a third format tested is evidence the demand underneath is real. Open Tuesday through Sunday, closed Mondays. Berry Hill is a small pocket of converted houses and studios just south of downtown, well away from the Broadway crowds, which makes it a considerably easier place to shop than the tourist core — and the neighbourhood where the whole idea began.
