18 Meridian St, Boston, MA 02128

Pomona Cafe & Wine Bar opened at 18 Meridian Street in Maverick Square in July 2026, and Boston magazine covered it a month later under the headline 'East Boston's New Wine Bar Runs on Colombian Coffee.' The room was hand-built by contractor Elkin Villegas, who was hired as general contractor for the project and ended up its owner mid-build when expansion plans shifted; the East Boston location is loosely affiliated with a Pomona in Swampscott but operates under separate ownership. The name comes from the Roman goddess of orchards and abundance, and the format matches: single-origin Colombian drip and espresso through the day, small plates and clams casino at night, and a room that stays open from 8am to midnight seven days a week.

For a directory reader, the useful part is that the alcohol-free side of the list is built out rather than implied. A Mocktails section names three drinks: Hugo Libre, a spritz of elderflower, fresh mint, lime juice, non-alcoholic sparkling wine and soda at $15; Corsa, a crisp, citrus-forward build of non-alcoholic tequila with strawberry, grapefruit, lime, aperitivo and soda water at $14; and Roselle, a raspberry, hibiscus and lemon drink with botanicals at $13, all priced at or just under the alcoholic cocktails. Beyond the mocktails there are separate Non-Alcoholic Wines and Non-Alcoholic Beer sections, listing a Chavin Zero Rose made from dealcoholised Cinsault, Syrah and Grenache from the Loire Valley, a Dr. Fischer Steinbock Zero sparkling brut, and Zero Gravity's Green State Lager Zero from Vermont. East Boston has very little of this, and a cafe with a real coffee programme, a printed zero-proof list and a midnight close covers most of the reasons someone would want a room in that neighborhood. The room is a short walk from the Maverick stop on the Blue Line, which makes it one of the easier alcohol-free-friendly evening options in the metro to reach from downtown without a car.
