Post Office Place launched on June 19, 2018, in part to give Takashi diners a place to enjoy a pre-dinner drink while waiting for a table, since Utah liquor law only allows cocktails once seated. It quickly earned national attention: in January 2023 the James Beard Foundation named it a semifinalist for Outstanding Bar Program, a list of the best bars in the United States.
In 2025 it deepened its partnership with chef Takashi Gibo's flagship, launching a weekly omakase serving monthly-changing dishes per seating. That collaboration earned the pairing Salt Lake magazine's Best Restaurant of 2026 honor.
