The Kava Bar — Fort Worth

The Kava Bar's Fort Worth room is at 5714 Locke Avenue, tucked into the Camp Bowie area on the city's west side. As recently as September 2026 the company gave each of its bars a nickname, and this one was The Sagebrush Social; the redesigned site calls it simply The Kava Bar — Fort Worth, alongside sister bars in North Dallas, Oak Cliff and Denton and a fifth announced. The company's own summary of the room is cold brew in the morning, adaptogen tonics all day, and kava when the sun goes down.

Kava is the reason to come. The root is native to the Pacific Islands, where it has been prepared and shared for centuries, and the menu explains that its kavalactones are known for their calming effect — in the company's phrase, taking the edge off without checking out. The house advice for a first visit is to sit at the bar with a half shell of traditional kava, or a Calm Tonic if the week has been long. Around the kava are functional botanical drinks made with adaptogens such as lion's mane, rhodiola, ashwagandha and reishi, sold on what they are meant to do — relaxation, energy, focus or mood — with the ingredients listed for each; loose-leaf teas from ceremonial matcha and chai to hibiscus and an Earl Grey oat latte; and a zero-proof drink that changes every month. Coffee is part of the day here, and the company says beans from Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters, a family-owned Dallas roastery, are coming to its bars.

No alcohol is served, but this is not a substance-free room. As recently as September 2026 the company's menu also listed house kratom brews — red, green and white vein, 18 and over only — with a dosage note and a plain warning that anything which makes you feel good can become habit-forming, and that anyone with a history of substance abuse should consider avoiding such things. The redesigned site no longer names kratom and says only that some products carry age requirements, so anyone avoiding it should ask what is on offer before ordering. The bar is open from 8am to midnight Monday to Thursday, until 1am on Friday and Saturday, and from 10am to midnight on Sunday, and it hosts community events and live entertainment.
