The Kava Bar — Fort Worth

The Kava Bar runs three rooms across the metroplex, each given its own name and one exclusive drink, and the Fort Worth location trades as The Sagebrush Social on Locke Avenue near Camp Bowie. Like its siblings in Oak Cliff and North Dallas, it is fully alcohol-free, and it says so directly: alcohol is replaced by a menu of kava, coffee and specialty botanical drinks.

The list divides into kava served classic or blended, botanical elixirs, a tea selection, and a genuine coffee programme — beans from Lemma Coffee Roasters, espresso drinks, matcha. That last part matters more than it sounds, because it means a visit does not have to involve kava at all; this works as a straightforward coffee house for anyone who wants the room without the root. The Fort Worth exclusive is The Cowtown Calm, which blends kava with local wildflower honey, coconut milk and a pinch of smoked salt.

Two honest notes. First, kava is psychoactive — legal, non-alcoholic, and widely used by people who have stopped drinking, but mood-altering, which anyone whose sobriety excludes all intoxicants should weigh.
