The Kava Bar – North Dallas

The Kava Bar – North Dallas occupies Suite 212 of the Pepper Square retail center at Preston Road and Belt Line, next door to Trader Joe's. The location opened in the spring of 2023 as one of the area's first dedicated kava bars, launched by David Darrigan, an emergency-room physician who wanted to offer a healthier alternative to alcohol; it now trades under The Kava Bar banner, which runs sister locations in Oak Cliff, Denton, and Fort Worth.

The entire menu is alcohol-free. The core pour is kava — an ancient South Pacific root prepared the traditional way, squeezed and served from a coconut shell — alongside kratom and botanical "elixir" teas, plus Lemma-roasted coffee, matcha, and herbal teas. Signature flavored-kava builds include the Churro Cha Cha (chocolate or vanilla with cinnamon agave and coconut cream), Peanut Butter Cup, Mango Bango, and Choco-Cherry, and staff will guide first-timers through the options.

The lounge is styled as a cozy, community-driven alternative to nightlife — neon lighting, local art, couches, games, and books — and is family- and pet-friendly. It stays open daily from 8am to midnight and hosts a regular calendar of open-mic nights, sober social mixers, and wellness pop-ups, giving North Dallas a late-night gathering spot with no alcohol on the premises.
