The Mockery was a genuinely unusual thing: a fully alcohol-free bar and bottle shop operating from inside a public food market. It sat in the Nashville Farmers' Market in Germantown, and the pairing of a working bar with retail shelves is a format that suits non-drinkers particularly well — you can have something made for you by hand, decide you like it, and take a bottle of the same thing home, which is how most people actually build a repertoire of drinks they enjoy. Its own description of the range is non-alcoholic wines, beer, sparkling-wine cocktails and classic cocktails, made to order. Because it traded on market days rather than bar hours, it kept a schedule almost no bar keeps: Friday through Sunday, opening at ten in the morning and closing in the early afternoon. For anyone whose sobriety is easier in daylight, or who has children, or who simply does not want to be in a bar at eleven at night, a Saturday-morning alcohol-free bar is close to ideal.

We have to be straight about its current status, because the evidence has moved. The domain it used to publish no longer resolves — not a lapsed page, but no DNS record at all. More significantly, it does not appear anywhere in the Nashville Farmers' Market's own merchant directory, which does name the market house's other restaurants and shops; we checked that directory directly rather than relying on a search result, and confirmed its other tenants are listed there while The Mockery is not. A market controls who trades in it, so absence from its own tenant list carries real weight. And we can find no dated activity of any kind — no post, review or listing — newer than early 2025. Set against that, the Instagram account still exists and still carries its opening hours, and no closure has ever been announced by the owners or reported anywhere. That is not enough for us to delete a business, because a venue that has gone dormant, moved, or simply stopped posting looks identical from the outside. So the listing stays, honestly labelled. Message them before you go.
