Caleño

Caleño is a Bristol-based, female-founded producer of non-alcoholic spirits created by Ellie Webb, who drew on her Colombian heritage — through her mother — in developing the brand. Webb has said her business journey began in January 2017, prompted by a Dry January experience and frustration at the lack of interesting non-alcoholic options. She had worked in the drinks industry before starting Caleño, and an early small grant funded the branding and the start of liquid development. The first products launched to market in January 2019.

The core range is built on distilled botanical extracts. Light & Zesty, positioned as a gin alternative, lists South American Inca berry, pineapple and papaya among its botanicals and carries 39 kcal per 100ml. Dark & Spicy, styled as a rum alternative, lists pineapple, coconut, kola nut and black cardamom and carries 45 kcal per 100ml. Both are listed at 0g sugar per 100ml and are sold in 50cl (500ml) and 20cl (200ml) bottles with a recommended 50ml serve. The range has since expanded to include White Coconut and Mango & Passion Fruit spirits, plus a canned Spritz line — Pineapple Piña Colada Spritz and Passion Fruit Martini Spritz — which the brand describes as non-alcoholic pre-mixed cocktails.

Caleño's own FAQ describes the drinks as "non-alcoholic at 0.5% ABV." That figure sits above the UK's stricter "alcohol-free" threshold of 0.05% ABV, and some third-party listings show the product as 0% instead.
