Lucky Saint was developed by founder Luke Boase in collaboration with a brewery in Bavaria, Germany, and launched in the UK in October 2018. The result was a pilsner-style lager brewed for six weeks and left unfiltered rather than stripped back and re-flavoured.

The beer is brewed to the German purity law using spring water and Hallertau hops, and the alcohol is removed after fermentation and conditioning by vacuum distillation to reach 0.5% ABV. The label lists water, malted barley, hops and yeast; a 330ml can of the flagship Unfiltered Lager is 53 calories (16 kcal per 100ml). Under the UK's voluntary labelling guidance 0.5% ABV is classed as "de-alcoholised" rather than legally "alcohol-free", a descriptor reserved for drinks at 0.05% ABV or below, though 0.5% is treated as alcohol-free across most of Europe.

The range has grown from the original lager to include Hazy IPA (added in late 2023), Lemon Lager (2025), a Superior German Weissbier in 500ml bottles (2025) and a Lime & Sea Salt Lager. In January 2023 the company behind the brand, Not Another Beer Co Ltd, closed a Series A of more than £10m led by Beringea and JamJar Investments — reported by The Grocer as the largest round ever raised by an alcohol-free beer brand — and in 2023 it opened The Lucky Saint, its own pub on Great Titchfield Street in Fitzrovia, central London. Not Another Beer Co Ltd is a certified B Corporation, Lucky Saint was named Drinks Brand of the Year at The Grocer Gold Awards 2023, it was available on tap in over 1,000 UK pubs by January 2024, and it is the Official Beer of the Dry January challenge in partnership with Alcohol Change UK.

Recognition: Named Drinks Brand of the Year at The Grocer Gold Awards 2023, with judges saying Lucky Saint had "showcased itself as a brand that leads independently" in the category

It's got to look like a beer, feel like a beer and taste like a beer. It's got to be credible and deserve its place on the taps.

The Lucky Saint

Fitzrovia

Bar
★★★★★?·5 NA brands

The Lucky Saint is the alcohol-free beer brand's first permanent pub, on Great Titchfield Street in Fitzrovia — a proper pub where nothing behind the bar will get you drunk. It pours the brand's own unfiltered 0.5% lager and a newer IPA alongside a rotating range of low- and no-alcohol beers, ciders and cans, Italian aperitivo bitters such as Crodino, and a short list of alcohol-free cocktails, with a full food menu. It is one of the clearest signs of London's shift: a busy, all-day pub built entirely without alcohol.

Hawksmoor Manchester

Deansgate

Restaurant
★★★★?·4 NA brands

Hawksmoor Manchester is the acclaimed British steak-and-seafood group's Deansgate restaurant, set in a landmark former bank a short walk from Spinningfields. Alongside its charcoal-grilled, dry-aged native-breed beef and grand banking-hall dining room, it keeps a genuine, named alcohol-free cocktail list — the 'Lo & No Alc' section, part of the group's wider 'Temperates' philosophy of what to drink when you're not drinking. Zero-proof builds run from Steady Pete's Ginger Brew (Tanqueray 0.0 and Lucky Saint IPA) and a Non-Alc Cherry Negroni with Lyre's Amaretti to the Afterburner, made with Botivo and Almave non-alcoholic agave spirit. Homemade sodas and a grown-up Shirley Temple riff round out a list built with the same care as the full bar.
