Partake Brewing is a Calgary, Alberta-based maker of non-alcoholic craft beer founded in 2017 by Ted Fleming. After being diagnosed with Crohn's disease, Fleming gave up alcohol and, frustrated by the lack of flavorful alcohol-free options, began brewing his own in his garage — bottling a first test batch of a roughly 10-calorie IPA. The company has since grown into one of Canada's best-selling non-alcoholic craft beer brands and expanded across the United States, and it is a certified B Corporation.

Every Partake beer contains less than 0.5% alcohol by volume and is built around an ultra-low-calorie profile — the brand's stated standard is "always under 30 calories," with the Pale coming in at just 10 calories and 4g of carbs per can. Beers are sold in 12 fl oz (355ml) cans in 12-, 24- and 48-pack formats.

The core lineup spans Pale, IPA, Blonde and Red ales, plus a Stout (Dark in the U.S.), with rotating seasonal releases such as a Peach Gose. Fleming notably pitched the company on Canada's Dragons' Den, and Partake raised a US$16.5M Series B in 2022 to fund its expansion.

The shop stocks more than 500 zero-proof products — non-alcoholic beer (IPAs, lagers, stouts, sours, wheat), dealcoholized wine, spirit alternatives (gin, whiskey, tequila, rum), ready-to-drink mocktails, and functional drinks with adaptogens and nootropics — across 50-plus brands including Athletic, Bravus, Partake, Seedlip, and Ritual. A tasting bar lets customers sample anything before buying, with staff guiding selections. Curtis's business also handles NA distribution, custom recipes, staff training, and events, and in January 2026 it opened a second location in Ocean Beach.

Henrietta Lane

Corktown

Cocktail Bar
NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?·1 NA brand

Henrietta Lane is a neighborhood cocktail and snack bar on King Street East in Corktown, in what its owners call "one of Toronto's oldest communities," open until 2am seven nights a week with an attached bottle shop. It was founded by two friends with a shared passion for coffee, food and bartending, and the kitchen runs on "quality ingredients & recipes made with care." The menu sets aside a dedicated "Teetotaller" section for zero-proof drinks, among them the Chai Blossom — a house chai concentrate mixed with soda and lime juice, garnished with star anise and a twist of citrus — and pours Partake non-alcoholic beer.

The Tatarian

Berkeley

Cocktail Bar
NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?·5 NA brands

The Tatarian is a contemporary neighbourhood cocktail bar on Tennyson Street in Berkeley, opened in 2018 and named for the Tatarian maples that shade the sidewalks outside. Its drinks are themed around trees of the world, and the theme extends into the non-alcoholic list: the house zero-proof cocktail, Luna, is named in honour of the activist Julia Butterfly Hill, who occupied a thousand-year-old California redwood to stop it being logged. Unusually for a Denver bar, the back bar carries non-alcoholic spirits as stocked bottles rather than as a single house pour — CleanCo Tequila Blanco, Lyre's London Spirit and Seedlip Garden 108 are all listed by the glass — alongside Partake's non-alcoholic IPA. 303 Magazine picked the bar out in its 2025 sober-summer guide.
