    ABV

    Mission

NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?

ABV is a Mission District cocktail bar that opened in summer 2014, founded by Erik Reichborn-Kjennerud, Ryan Fitzgerald, and Todd Smith (a founding Bourbon & Branch bartender). It was named Imbibe Magazine's 2015 Bar of the Year and ranked #39 in the inaugural North America's 50 Best Bars (2022), the only San Francisco bar on that list. The menu is organized by base spirit, with dedicated "LOW ABV" and "0% ABV" sections that make the no/low offering a standing, structured part of the program rather than an afterthought. The non-alcoholic cocktails ($14) center on a house "n/a aperitif" and bright, fresh builds — the N/A Negroni (n/a aperitif, charred grapefruit tonic), Flightless Bird, Green Dream (tarragon, lemon, ginger, tonic), and Jumpstart (carrot, ginger, turmeric, lemon, soda) — alongside Lagunitas Hop Water and IPNA. ABV makes drinks to order and runs a late kitchen until midnight.

    Trick Dog

    Mission

NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?

Trick Dog is a cocktail bar at 3010 20th Street in the Mission, opened in 2013 by Josh Harris and known for elaborately designed, fully themed drink menus that the team reinvents roughly every six months. Harris is sober, and the bar deliberately integrates zero-proof drinks into the same menu sections, with the same creative names, as the full-proof list rather than isolating them as a separate category — so a non-drinker gets the identical ordering experience. Past alcohol-free builds include Puppy Pose, a creamy green milk punch with wheatgrass, yogurt and non-alcoholic spirits, and the Wydah, built on Ritual Tequila Alternative and Wilfred's aperitif. Trick Dog was named Best U.S. Cocktail Bar at the 2025 Spirited Awards and has twice won World's Best Cocktail Menu.

    Third Rail

    Dogpatch

NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?

Third Rail is a cocktail bar on 20th Street in Dogpatch, known for craft drinks served alongside house-made jerky. Its approach to alcohol-free drinking is unusually practical: rather than confining zero-proof options to a short list, the bar marks individual cocktails on the main menu as available as non-alcoholic, so the same builds are offered either way. Four of the shaken drinks carry that note, including the Yuzu Cute with elderflower, yuzu, pineapple, lemon and mint, the grapefruit-and-elderflower Pawloma, the house Third Rail with lemon, honey and orange bitters, and the smoky Evil Twin. The menu also lists one purpose-built zero-proof cocktail, Dragonfly, made with Ritual Zero Proof tequila, butterfly pea flower, agave, lime and clove.

Order: Dragonfly (Ritual Zero Proof tequila, butterfly pea flower, agave, lime, clove) · Yuzu Cute, available non-alcoholic (elderflower, yuzu, pineapple, lemon, mint) · Pawloma, available non-alcoholic (grapefruit, lime, agave, elderflower, sparkling grapefruit soda)

    Starlite

    Union Square

NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?

Starlite is the 21st-floor bar of the Beacon Grand hotel on Powell Street in Union Square, a room that has served cocktails since 1928 and reopened after the hotel's restoration with drinks by Scott Baird and a bites menu by chef Johnny Spero. Its non-alcoholic programme is a printed menu section titled The Free Spirited, holding four zero-proof cocktails at $16 named for the seasons: Spring, built on Navarro verjus with lemon, honey, chamomile and club soda; Summer, with passion fruit, lime, vanilla, coconut water, butterfly pea flower and saline; Autumn, with jasmine tea, pomegranate, ginger five-spice syrup, white miso and lemon; and Winter, with carrot juice, toasted almond milk, cinnamon, star anise and Meyer lemon. NON 1 zero-proof wine and Athletic Brewing's Upside Dawn complete the section.

    Last Rites

    Duboce Triangle

NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?

Last Rites is a "Polynesian Noir" tiki bar that opened in San Francisco's Duboce Triangle in 2018 from Justin Lew and Ian Scalzo (the team also behind nearby Horsefeather). The room is built as a crashed-plane-in-the-jungle: a real airplane fuselage forms the bar, surrounded by banyan roots, stone booths, fire-breathing skull idols, fog, and storm effects. The cocktail program leans grown-up and rum-deep (150+ rums), skipping the blue-curaçao tiki clichés. Notably for a serious cocktail bar, it prints five named zero-proof drinks on the main menu at about $14 each — built on house-made "LR N/A Cask Spirit" and "N/A Cane Spirit" plus Pathfinder no-ABV spirit — so the alcohol-free cocktails get the same theatrical treatment as the full-proof ones. Named NA pours include the Golden Idol, Glass Ruby, Mocking Bird, Wrong Island, and El Peligosto. Wednesday bingo nights are a local draw.

Order: Golden Idol · Glass Ruby · Mocking Bird

    Palm House

    Cow Hollow

NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?

Palm House is a tropical bar and restaurant at 2032 Union Street in Cow Hollow, set in a historic 1854 dairy farmhouse behind what the venue describes as San Francisco's second-oldest palm tree, and trading under the Palm House name since 2014. The Caribbean- and Hawaiian-leaning kitchen and tiki-influenced bar pair vacation-style food with a standing non-alcoholic list printed on the main menu rather than hidden behind a request. The "Free Spirited" section runs the Virgin Islands (passion fruit, prickly pear, pineapple gomme), the Piñita Colada (coconut water, coconut puree, pineapple gomme, lime), the Hibiscus Mate (hibiscus tea, yerba mate, lemon, simple syrup) and an N/A Michelada built on non-alcoholic lager, priced $8 to $10. Rationale Brewing non-alcoholic lager is poured, and drag brunch, trivia and DJ nights are regular fixtures.

Order: Virgin Islands · Piñita Colada · Hibiscus Mate

Its alcohol-free drinks sit under a menu heading simply marked zero proof, and they are priced from $7 to $13 against $15 to $17 for the full-proof cocktails. The section lists Six of Cups, built on Floreale L'Aperitivo with lemon, honey and cucumber tonic; a Pathfinder Spritz made with the fermented and distilled hemp spirit; St. Agrestis's Phony Negroni; and a Juice Shop pineapple mint tonic of sparkling spring water, cold-pressed pineapple and pear juice, mint, blue spirulina and eleuthero. The menu is broken out by base spirit and carries a standing non-alcoholic section, and bartenders will build a spirit-free version of nearly anything else on the list. Named zero-proof pours include Raisin da Roof (Lyre's non-alcoholic gin and dry aperitif, raisin, orange, apple cider vinegar), Karl the POG (Seedlip Spice, house passionfruit-orange-guava, orgeat, citrus, ginger beer) and Cactus Makes Perfect (nopales water, jicama, sakura). Delah Coffee (SoMa)

    South of Market

NA Program Strength: 5 of 5?

Delah Coffee is the original San Francisco Yemeni coffeehouse, opened in SoMa in July 2022 by Omar Jahamee, then eighteen, with his uncle Majed Jahamee. KQED credits it as the first Yemeni coffee shop to open in the Bay Area, ahead of the wave of more than twenty that followed. The Fourth Street cafe is entirely alcohol-free and trades from 6am to 11pm on weeknights and to midnight on Friday and Saturday, which makes it a genuine late option rather than a morning-only stop. The drinks are traditional: Sana'ani, the house black coffee with cardamom; Jubani, a light roast with cardamom, ginger and cinnamon; Arabian Qawah; and Adeni chai, Yemeni black tea cooked with cream and Delah's own spice blend. Turkish delights and turnovers baked daily fill the counter.

    South of Market

NA Program Strength: 5 of 5?

Heyma Yemeni Coffee & Brunch is an alcohol-free Yemeni coffeehouse and all-day kitchen on Ninth Street in western SoMa, the San Francisco sibling of the Heyma cafe that opened on University Avenue in Berkeley in October 2023. It keeps the longest hours of any Yemeni room in the city, running 7am to 11:30pm most nights and to midnight on Friday and Saturday, and describes itself simply as open early and staying late. The drinks are traditional and spice-driven: the Heyma Latte built with cardamom and cinnamon, Aden tea cooked with cardamom, ginger and cream, and Mufawaar, the cream-topped spiced coffee that anchors most Yemeni menus. A full brunch kitchen runs alongside the coffee bar.

Order: Heyma Latte (spiced with cardamom and cinnamon) · Aden Tea (cardamom, ginger, cream) · Mufawaar (spiced coffee with cardamom, ginger and cream)

    Bar Iris

    Russian Hill / Polk Gulch

NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?

Bar Iris is a Japanese-influenced craft cocktail bar at 2310 Polk Street in Russian Hill / Polk Gulch, opened in early 2022 as the sibling to chef David Yoshimura's Michelin-starred restaurant Nisei next door. The program leans on Japanese spirits and long, seasonal ingredient lists, and its non-alcoholic offering is unusually deep: the bar keeps a standalone alcohol-free menu that currently runs nine N/A cocktails named for Japanese places, from the Kyoto — a non-alcoholic martini of Amass and Dhōs N/A spirits with Aplos Arise, narazuke brine and tsukemono — to the Yakushima (Okinawa purple yam, Wilderton Earthen, kalamansi, li hin mui), alongside a bottle list of dealcoholized sake, sparkling wine and riesling. Several cocktails on the main list are also marked as available non-alcoholic, and The San Francisco Standard has reported that more than half its cocktails can be made without alcohol.

Order: Kyoto (N/A martini: Amass N/A, Dhōs N/A vodka, Aplos Arise, narazuke brine, tsukemono) · Yakushima (Okinawa purple yam, Wilderton Earthen N/A, kalamansi, li hin mui) · Aichi (Seward N/A gin, red shiso, N/A riesling, Muri Yamile, honey, Q soda)

    True Laurel

    Mission

NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?

True Laurel is a cocktail bar and restaurant at 753 Alabama Street in the Mission, opened in 2017 by the team behind the Michelin-starred Lazy Bear — chef David Barzelay and bar director Nicolas Torres. Its drinks are built from house-made syrups, shrubs and ferments made with California produce, and the same pantry drives a rotating non-alcoholic list that always carries several zero-proof options, including the Bay Bay Bubbler (California bay laurel, dealcoholized tequila, quinine) and Spice & Everything Nice. The bar has a heated parklet on Alabama Street that stays usable in Mission fog. True Laurel ranked No. 17 on North America's 50 Best Bars in 2025, rising to No. 14 in 2026, and won the Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award in 2024.

How this page decides what counts

Three facts, all verified, all required. The venue has to rate at least 4 of 5 for its non-alcoholic program — a fully alcohol-free room, or a licensed venue with a strong named zero-proof list, the same floor our San Francisco sober bars page uses. It has to be somewhere you can sit, so bottle shops are out. And its hours have to run past midnight on at least one night, which is what makes this a nightlife page rather than a second copy of the sober bars list: at that cut a restaurant with a good zero-proof menu drops out, and the bars, lounges, kava bars and late coffeehouses remain.

“No alcohol served” is written on a card only when the venue's own verified description says so — never inferred from a rating or a name. Everything else here is a bar with a real non-alcoholic program, and it is labelled as a bar. Hours are the venue's live listing, re-synced weekly; the drinks on each venue page were read off its current menu and carry the date we last confirmed them.
