Analog Coffee Bar (Carabello Coffee)

Carabello Coffee, run by owner Justin Carabello, roasts its own beans at 107 E 9th Street in historic Newport, Kentucky, just across the river from downtown Cincinnati. After a Kickstarter campaign that raised $47,000 in 30 days ("It floored us," Justin told Cincinnati Magazine), the shop expanded and opened Analog in September 2016 during its three-year anniversary — a more curated, experiential space carved out of the cafe. The concept, as Justin put it, is "craft cocktails meets coffee": a slow bar where beverages are built with the deliberate technique of a cocktail program, minus any alcohol.

Analog is entirely alcohol-free — the shop's own FAQ answers the question of whether the drinks contain alcohol with a simple "No." Guests sit at a six-seat wooden counter with the espresso machines and pour-over rigs arranged behind the bar, chef's-table style, so every step is visible. The menu is reinvented from scratch every six weeks, with a few special monthly features in between; a recent literary-themed lineup included The Hobbit, Bear, Blueberries for Sal and Anne of Green Gables. Beyond coffee builds and espresso drinks, the bar pours coffee-free options — tea-based signature drinks, hot chocolate, and coffee mocktails such as the Cold Fashioned, made with cold brew and bitters "sans the bourbon." Desserts and small bites are curated from local bakeries.

Analog runs Thursday through Saturday, 10am–5pm only, and closes the rest of the week. With just six seats, reservations are encouraged (especially on Saturdays) and can be booked through carabellocoffee.resurva.com; the shop suggests planning for anywhere from 5 to 60 minutes depending on how deep you want to go. It's a genuine destination for coffee lovers and for sober or sober-curious guests who want a real, technique-driven alcohol-free experience rather than a token mocktail.
