Goodwins

Goodwins occupies a stretch of Greenville Avenue where the competition is mostly bars, and it runs as an all-day restaurant with lunch and dinner services either side of an afternoon break. Its non-alcoholic drinks are printed under a heading that leaves no ambiguity — NO ABV — on the dinner menu revised in late April 2026. That matters more than it sounds on this particular street, where a non-drinker's realistic options are otherwise a soda at a bar built for drinking.

There are two, and both are built on Ritual Zero Proof, the Chicago distillate range that has become the default working spirit for American bars taking the category seriously. The Mocking Marg keeps it clean: the tequila alternative with lime and agave, which is the drink most people want first when they stop drinking, and the one that most exposes a bar that is not trying. The Ginger Peach Sour is the more elaborate build, running the gin alternative into peach liqueur syrup, lime, ginger and a rose water finish — the rose water in particular is the kind of flourish that only appears when someone has actually tasted the drink and decided it needed a top note. Non-alcoholic beer comes from Athletic Brewing and Crazy Mountain's lime lager, which widens the list considerably for anyone who would rather drink beer than a mixed drink.

We would rather be straight about the scale: two mixed drinks is a short list, and it sits inside a menu PDF rather than on a drinks page of its own, so it is easy to miss when browsing and worth naming at the table. What makes it worth the entry is that both are made with real non-alcoholic spirits rather than juice and soda — an ordinary neighbourhood restaurant doing the thing properly rather than gesturing at it, which is a more useful signal for the rest of the street than another cocktail bar's showpiece list. The all-day format is the practical upside: with lunch and dinner either side of an afternoon break, this works as a daytime meeting as readily as an evening one, and a daytime table is the easier place to be the person not drinking on a street built almost entirely around the opposite.
