Muchacho is an elevated Tex-Mex restaurant from five-time James Beard Award-nominated chef Omar Flores, who opened the original in Dallas's Preston Center in 2019 inside the Plaza at Preston Center on Villanova Street. Flores — an Abacus alum who also launched Driftwood, Casa Rubia and Whistle Britches — runs a from-scratch kitchen with an on-site smoker for brisket and smoked meats alongside regional Mexican dishes. The concept has since expanded to Southlake (2021) and Frisco (2026).

While margaritas anchor the bar, Muchacho carries a genuine spirit-free cocktail section built on real non-alcoholic spirits rather than sodas and syrups. The Mock-a-Rita reworks the house margarita with hibiscus-infused Lyre's Agave, lime and agave; the No-Fashioned uses Lyre's American Malt with chicha morada and orange; the No-Groni Sbagliato layers non-alcoholic gin, Italian rosso, rose water and non-alcoholic prosecco; and the Serene-Tea blends pear, green tea, grenadine and lemon. These are priced and served as full cocktails (roughly $15-$17), not afterthoughts.

DiningOut spotlighted the program in its Dry January roundup of Dallas's best zero-proof cocktails, calling Muchacho "the Dallas Tex-Mex staple" and noting the Mock-a-Rita lets everyone in on the chips-queso-and-margarita ritual.
