Lions Den

The Stoneleigh has been an Uptown landmark since the 1920s, and its bar reopened in 2026 as Lions Den under chef Michael White, with an Italian-leaning menu to match. The drinks list carries a section printed as Zero Proof, and it is one of the few in Dallas that treats non-alcoholic drinking as an aperitivo tradition rather than a lemonade problem — a distinction that decides whether a zero-proof list tastes of fruit or of something closer to a drink.

Giusto E Sbagliato is the drink that demonstrates the point. It layers Lyre's American Malt with Roots Rosso, a cocoa-infused Giffard aperitif syrup and Crodino — the bittersweet Italian aperitivo that has been non-alcoholic since long before the category had a name, and which remains the most useful bottle on any zero-proof back bar. The result is the bitter, structured, slightly medicinal profile that is hardest to reproduce without alcohol, and it is priced at the top of the list accordingly. The Prickly Hibiscus Spritz is the easier drink of the set, running Ghia's botanical aperitif into hibiscus, prickly pear, lemon and soda, and La Bombola completes the section.

The format is the practical advantage here. This is a hotel bar attached to a restaurant running three services a day — breakfast from 6:30am, lunch from 11:30am and dinner from 5pm, to 10pm most nights and 11pm on Friday and Saturday — so the zero-proof list is available at hours when a cocktail bar would still be shut. That makes it a genuine option for a morning meeting or an early evening drink, not only for a night out. One thing to keep an eye on: the hotel is in the middle of rebranding to Marriott's Autograph Collection, so the bar's name and menu are more likely than most to shift over the next year.
