Haraz Coffee House (Atlanta)

Haraz began in Dearborn, Michigan — the first Arab-majority city in the United States — where Hamzah Nasser opened the original shop in 2021 with the stated aim of putting Yemeni coffee culture on a global footing. The chain grew quickly, and the Midtown Atlanta location is the brand's first in Georgia. It took over the former Twisted Kitchen space inside University House, a student-housing tower at Spring Street and 8th, giving it roughly 2,000 square feet of room plus a 600-square-foot patio. Tomorrow's News Today first reported the lease in February 2025; the shop then ran a long soft opening from October before holding its grand opening, which The Infatuation covered in January 2026. The site matters as much as the coffee: Midtown's late-night options skew heavily towards bars, and Haraz gives the district a room that is open past 10pm and pours nothing alcoholic.

The menu is where the Yemeni specificity lives. The Traditional section lists Harazi Mufawar, Maleki, Sana'ani and Jubani — regional preparations that treat coffee as a spiced, aromatic infusion rather than an espresso extraction — plus Qishr, the coffee-husk drink brewed with ginger and cinnamon. The house Adeni Chai is the signature: Indian masala tea fused with Yemeni tea leaves, cardamom and cinnamon, served hot or iced. The Espresso Bar runs Pistachio, Mocha, Saffron and seasonal Pumpkin lattes; the Cloud Matcha section and a list of Iced Refreshers built on mango dragon fruit, hibiscus and pink coconut cover the non-coffee side. Pastries, milk cakes and bulk beans and tea bags are sold alongside. Nothing on the menu contains alcohol, and there is no bar programme of any kind — the room works as a study space by day and a social one at night, which is the pattern Yemeni coffeehouses have followed in every metro they have opened in.
