HiFi at The Finn is a vinyl listening lounge and craft cocktail bar on the mezzanine of The Finn, a chef-driven food hall inside the historic Jones on Main building at 712 Main Street in Downtown Houston. It is modelled on Japan's kissa and listening-bar tradition, built around a record collection and a curated turntable system, with rotating DJ sets from Wednesday to Saturday. The room is kept deliberately quieter than the food hall below so the music remains audible. It soft-opened on 1 May 2025 and held its grand opening on 27 June 2025.
The Filipino-inspired small-plates menu — lumpia, adobo, pancit — is curated by James Beard Award-winning chef Tom Cunanan under culinary director Joe Murphy, a former Nobu executive chef, with restaurateur Michael Collantes overseeing concepts across The Finn. Beverage direction comes from F&B director Terra Velasquez.
The zero-proof programme is genuine rather than token, with several builds anchored on Cut Above's alcohol-free spirits. Tang, Tang, Taaang pairs Cut Above tequila with lime oleo, agave and a house-made tangerine soda — oleo being oleo-saccharum, the aromatic oil drawn out of citrus peel by steeping it in sugar, a labour-intensive punch-house technique almost never applied to a non-alcoholic drink. No Speed Limit is the most complex on the list, layering Pathfinder Hemp & Root with Cut Above whiskey, black cherry and coffee; Pathfinder is a fermented hemp-and-root distillate with a bitter, woody character, and using two alcohol-free spirits together is how you build the depth a whiskey drink needs. Kiwi No. 0 keeps it simple with fresh kiwi, citrus and crushed ice, and Pine the Time Away runs pineapple, ginger, agave and lime with No Sec liqueur. The bar also runs recurring hands-on mixology classes that include a dedicated non-alcoholic option.
The listening-bar format is the strongest argument here. The music is the reason to be in the room, volume sits where conversation is possible but not compulsory, and there is no bar to stand at — which removes the unstructured time that makes a night out sober hard work. Open Wednesday to Saturday, to midnight Thursday through Saturday.
