Le Colonial opened in the River Oaks District in August 2016, an outpost of a French-Vietnamese restaurant group. The two-story space channels 1920s French Indochina, with a wraparound terrace and an upstairs lounge bar. The Houston kitchen is run by Executive Chef Fredy Cutz alongside Culinary Director Hassan Obaye.
In 2024, Le Colonial unveiled a renovated patio and a new cocktail program. PaperCity Magazine's coverage of the launch event singled out the Saigon Mint Colada as the pour for guests who weren't drinking alcohol, calling it out by name alongside the new cocktails.
The beverage menu carries a standing Mocktails section distinct from the cocktail list, with three named non-alcoholic drinks built from fresh produce and house syrups: a coconut-pineapple-turmeric colada, a pomegranate-ginger-cilantro cooler finished with Q ginger beer, and a trio of shaken black teas. It is a full-bar restaurant, not an alcohol-free venue, but the non-alcoholic program is intentional, named, and has drawn its own press attention rather than functioning as a Coke-and-soda afterthought.
