Mother Cocktail Bar

Mother Cocktail Bar occupies 874 Queen St W in Toronto's West Queen West neighborhood, part of the strip's eclectic corridor of dining and nightlife on the city's west end. It was founded by a group its own site describes as "likeminded people with a common goal – elevate the Canadian cocktail scene," built around sourcing quality natural ingredients, using fermentation techniques to develop them, and pairing the bar program with a kitchen turning out small bites, mains and desserts inspired by cuisines around the world.

The bar runs on rotating, thematically-driven menus rather than a static list. Its current program, "The 5th Horizon," is the bar's fourth full menu iteration, drawing on ideas of global horizons to explore change, transformation and hope for the future across both the cocktail list and the food menu. Mother has been recognized for that approach with a No. 48 ranking on Canada's 100 Best Bars 2026 list and a No. 22 spot on North America's 50 Best Bars 2026.

Non-alcoholic drinkers aren't an afterthought here: the menu carries a dedicated Signature Non-Alcoholic section with three named, house-made zero-proof cocktails, each priced at $17 alongside the bar's alcoholic offerings. The Tomato Soup is a savoury, lacto-fermented tomato drink with fresh oregano and basil and a silky coconut milk finish; the Fading Silhouette pairs plum and black cardamom with kombucha fizz, warmed by amaretto; and the Tonka Brew is a clean, bitter highball built on tonic and savoury citrus, finished with a gentle spice. Forbes Travel Guide singled the bar out for sticking "to its innovative approach to cocktails and unique flavor profiles with its 0% ABV cocktail list."
