Multnomah Whiskey Library is a membership-based whiskey bar and restaurant in the West End of downtown Portland, opened in 2013 inside a roughly 6,000-square-foot former piano store. It has grown into one of the country's most celebrated whiskey destinations, with a collection of roughly 1,700 spirits — including about 1,000 different whiskies — pulled from rolling library ladders. The bar runs on a curated, host-seated model: members get reservation privileges, while non-members are welcomed first-come, first-served or via a one-time "Hall Pass."
The cocktail program is deep, with more than 70 original cocktails alongside the spirits list, and for non-drinkers the menu is not an afterthought: Multnomah Whiskey Library keeps several non-alcoholic libations, and its public-facing downstairs counterpart, the Green Room — a "light and bright" sustainability-focused cocktail bar open without reservations — carries its own zero-proof options. Eater Portland has named the Library among the city's go-to spots for zero-proof drinks.
“There are plenty of whiskey-based concoctions ... but there are also fun, creative drinks highlighting other spirits as well as several nonalcoholic libations.”— Travel OregonTravel Oregon, Dec 9, 2024 →
