Origin Bar

Origin Bar is the signature cocktail bar of the Shangri-La Singapore, tucked into the Tower Wing lobby at 22 Orange Grove Road in the Orchard/Tanglin district. It was ranked No. 32 on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2024, and its programme is led by Director of Beverage Adam Bursik, a Slovakia-raised bartender who has steered the room through successive concept-driven menus drawing on Singapore's tropical produce, neighbourhoods and rituals.

What makes the no/low angle real here is that it is a design principle rather than a token afterthought. Bursik describes low- and no-alcohol cocktails as 'a permanent shift,' and says the team builds 'our menu around flavour and experience first, not alcohol level.' Rather than a separate zero-proof chapter, lighter and alcohol-free options are integrated across the list - a lower-intervention approach that suits guests practising what Bursik calls mindful drinking, or 'discovery, not restriction.'

The emblematic lighter pour is the Bubble Club, a dry, aromatic and complex build of distilled guava lychee, umeshu, vitamin C cordial and water. Because it leans on house distillates and a splash of umeshu, it reads as a genuinely low-ABV cocktail rather than a sugary mocktail - the through-line of Origin's philosophy that a drink's interest should not depend on its proof.

The setting is a polished five-star hotel lounge with a smart-casual dress code, open nightly from 5:30pm to 1:00am. Menus rotate on a concept basis (recent editions include an 18-drink 'Point of View' collection), so the exact no/low pours change - but the commitment to weaving lighter options throughout is a standing feature of the programme.
