Republic opened in 2021 as part of a major refurbishment of The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore, conceived as a multi-dimensional lounge-and-bar that evokes an elegant private residence. Set in the Marina Centre precinct at 7 Raffles Avenue, the bar leans into the cultural energy of the 1960s, with vintage posters, vinyl records and period music lining a room built for slow, considered drinking. Its cocktail program is released in numbered 'Volumes' - the current Volume Three, 'Breakthrough,' collects 16 drinks that pay tribute to the trailblazers and cultural shifts of the decade.

Republic ranks among Singapore's most decorated hotel bars. It placed No. 12 on Asia's 50 Best Bars in 2022 and No. 16 in 2023, and continues to appear on Tatler and Travel + Leisure best-of lists. (Note: Republic was not on the 2025 Asia's 50 Best Bars 51-100 list - the No. 60 slot that year went to Origin Bar, a different Singapore venue.)

The reason Republic earns a place in a non-alcoholic directory is the seriousness of its no-and-low offering. Rather than a single token mocktail, the bar keeps what Time Out Singapore calls 'a painstakingly curated list of fine bubbles, natural wine alternatives and zero-proof distillates.' The headline pour is Muri 'Passing Clouds' (about S$25), a Danish zero-proof sparkling made to stand in for champagne - all flowers, honey and ripe fruit up front, with a vinous funk and a dry, faintly tannic finish.

Practically, Republic is open daily from noon (until midnight Sunday to Thursday, 1am on Friday and Saturday, with an earlier close on Sunday), and its lounge doubles as an afternoon-tea room. For a visiting non-drinker, it is one of the safest bets in Marina Bay for a genuinely composed alcohol-free drink in a luxury-hotel setting - tempered by the fact that the zero-proof list is a curated shelf rather than a large printed named menu, so it is worth asking the bartender what is pouring on the night.
