Baladi Coffee

Baladi is Arabic for "my homeland", and the shop's stated mission is to bring the flavours behind that word to a Cobb County strip centre. It is family-owned — Sarah and Allen are named as the owners on their listing with Atlanta Coffee Shops — and it has since grown to three Georgia sites, with the original in Kennesaw at 3061 George Busbee Parkway joined by locations in Marietta and Athens. The Kennesaw room trades from 7am to 10pm every day of the week, and extends to midnight through Ramadan, which is when the surrounding Muslim community does most of its evening socialising. There is no licence and no alcohol on the premises at any hour.

The tea list is what sets Baladi apart from the Yemeni coffeehouses elsewhere in the metro. Rather than collapsing everything into one chai, the menu treats Adeni tea, Arabic tea, Yemeni tea and Pakistani chai as four distinct preparations, each with its own spicing, and sells them alongside a matcha and chai section. The coffee side runs signature espresso drinks and a rotating "Wanderlust" list built around flavours from outside the region. The cold options are simple and popular: Peach Mango, Strawberry Acai and Watermelon Kiwi refreshers, which are what most tables order in a Georgia summer. Food is the other half of the draw — milk cake and kunafa lead a counter of traditional and modern Arabic pastries and quick bites, all halal. Because Kennesaw's evening trade is otherwise dominated by chain restaurants and sports bars, Baladi functions as one of the few places in north-west metro Atlanta where a group can sit at 9pm over drinks that nobody has to explain or apologise for. We have not listed an opening year because none is published on the company's own site, and we have not attributed a founding date to the brand for the same reason. The Kennesaw shop is the flagship of the three and the one with the longest hours; the Marietta site on Sandy Plains Road trades as a smaller grab-and-go format, and the Athens location serves the university town rather than the metro. Everything served at any of them is halal and non-alcoholic, and the shop holds no licence.
