Echoes occupies a Richmond Avenue site in Montrose and trades as a live-music and DJ bar, open from four in the afternoon until two in the morning every night except Monday. That closing time is the single most relevant fact about it for anyone not drinking, because the problem with a music venue is rarely the music — it is that the last two hours of the night are structured entirely around rounds at the bar.
The non-alcoholic drinks here solve that in an unusual way: rather than imitating cocktails, they lean into being rich. The lady marmalade is espresso with chocolate syrup and crushed Oreos, which is frankly a dessert in a glass and none the worse for it. Dolce vita is the most constructed of the four, layering tamarind and melon syrups beneath a mandarin and bergamot soda and finishing with heavy cream — tamarind supplying a sour, slightly resinous depth that keeps the cream from flattening everything. Never promised you a rose garden works the opposite register, dry and floral, with rose tonic against hibiscus and lychee; hibiscus brings the tartness, and tonic water's quinine bitterness gives it the astringent finish a long drink needs. The tropical tango is the straightforward one, pineapple, lime and coconut lengthened with ginger beer.
CultureMap Houston listed the bar in its January 2026 survey of where to drink without alcohol in the city, which is how it came to our attention, and the drinks above are the ones that coverage names.
The case for a music bar as a night out without alcohol is a specific one. A room with a stage has a reason to be there that is not the drink in your hand: the evening has a shape imposed by the set times rather than by rounds, there is something to face other than the bar, and nobody counts what anyone is holding while a band is playing. Add a kitchen running until two in the morning and a drinks list with four builds that took real work, and Echoes becomes one of the more genuinely usable late rooms in Montrose for a non-drinker.
