Flying Saucer Draught Emporium opened its Houston flagship on Main Street at Capitol in 2000, four years after Shannon Wynne and Keith Schlabs launched the first Flying Saucer in Fort Worth; the Houston location marked its 16th anniversary in August 2016 and has since passed the quarter-century mark for the chain overall. The bar occupies ground-floor space at 705 Main Street, a stretch of downtown that predates Houston's METRORail line and endured years of rail construction outside its doors before the surrounding blocks filled back in with bars and restaurants. Flying Saucer built its reputation on scale — roughly 85 taps and around 150 bottled and canned beers — plus its UFO Club, which rewards regulars who work through 200 different beers with a custom plate mounted on the wall.

That same tap-list-first approach carries over to non-alcoholic beer. Rather than stocking one or two token options, the Houston location pours a rotating slate of 15 named zero- and near-zero-ABV beers, verified on the venue's dedicated beerfordriving.com listing: several Athletic Brewing styles (Atletica, Fancy Like, Free Wave, Run Wild, Layback Lime & Salt and the radler-style Ripe Pursuit), four Brooklyn Special Effects variants (Classic Golden, Grapefruit IPA, Hoppy Amber and Pils), Guinness 0, Clausthaler Original, Deschutes Black Butte Non-Alcoholic, Lagunitas Hoppy Refresher and Untitled Art Mango Dragonfruit Fruited Sour. It's a beer-nerd's non-alcoholic list in the same spirit as the bar's full-proof one — broad enough to let a non-drinking guest actually compare styles rather than default to soda.

An early-2026 search summary had suggested the Houston Flying Saucer might have closed, but that traced back to a misread of unrelated Houston closure round-ups that do not list this venue; the beerknurd.com corporate site and Yelp both continue to show the Main Street location actively operating in July 2026, with unchanged hours, phone number and address.

Sixteen years here is like 40 years in River Oaks or Upper Kirby.
