CleanCo was founded in 2019 by Spencer Matthews, the former Made in Chelsea star, to make spirit alternatives that could stand in for a proper G&T or margarita rather than serve as a consolation prize. The company describes itself as the world's leading independent non-alcoholic spirits brand.

The range covers gin (Clean G, plus a Clean G Rhubarb variant), rum (Clean R), tequila (Clean T), vodka (Clean V) and whiskey (Clean W), sold in 70cl bottles, alongside a ready-to-drink cocktail line (Clean Margarita, Clean Mojito, Clean G&T and Clean Italian Spritz) in 250ml cans. In October 2024 CleanCo reformulated its spirits range from 0.4% ABV down to a fully alcohol-free 0.0% ABV, with each 25ml single measure carrying roughly 2-3 calories. Products are made in the UK, with production based in Manchester and head office teams in London and New York.

CleanCo was named Non Alcohol Producer of the Year at the New York International Spirits Competition in 2024, and took Silver medals for Clean G, Clean G Rhubarb, Clean R, Clean T and Clean W at the 2025 London Spirits Competition, scoring 90-92 points. The brand carries listings in Tesco, Sainsbury's and Waitrose in the UK, and in 2025 England cricket captain Ben Stokes joined as an investor and brand partner in a $5 million raise, with CleanCo citing 8.8 million of its drinks served in 2024.

Funnily enough, I had originally toyed with the idea of creating my own alcohol-free spirits brand before getting to know CleanCo. … Discovering that they are the best in the game and their products are really that good, I knew that I wanted to be involved in a serious capacity. Getting to know Spencer, the team and the category potential, only fuelled my intent to be part of this pioneering brand. I was seriously impressed to learn of the market opportunity and CleanCo's dominance in the space.

It spans more than 5,000 square feet of dining room and stage, programming live jazz and soul most nights it is open, and the kitchen runs a Southern menu — chargrilled oysters, fried catfish, bourbon peach ribs, country fried chicken with carrot cake waffles, lobster mac and cheese. The drinks list carries a named alcohol-free section headed Free Spirit, built on zero-proof tequila and bourbon rather than juice, priced at $14 for the spirit-based builds. It opens Friday through Sunday only.

Maple & Ash

Camelback Corridor, Scottsdale

Restaurant
NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?·1 NA brand

The Scottsdale outpost of the Chicago steakhouse, sitting on Camelback Road with a bar and lounge that runs a daily Tower Hour from 4pm. Its non-alcoholic drinks are built from real alcohol-free spirits rather than juice — the Lavender & Luxury pairs CleanCo non-alcoholic gin with lychee, honey and a foam, and the Like a Virgin is a spiced take on a margarita. DiningOut Phoenix named it among the metro bars worth going to for a mocktail in May 2026. A steakhouse rather than a bar, so expect to be eating; the zero-proof drinks sit alongside a large wine and spirits programme.

Rochambeau is a French brasserie on Boylston Street in Back Bay, steps from Copley Square, with a street-level bar and a large dining room running from morning through late service. Its drinks list keeps a named non-alcoholic section rather than a token substitute, and the builds use real zero-proof products rather than juice. Red Lace is made with Tilden Lacewing, strawberry Persian rose, honey and egg white; Blueberries for Sal uses CleanCo non-alcoholic tequila with blueberry, mint, lime, orgeat and soda; the N/A Hugo Spritz is built on Giffard's alcohol-free elderflower with lime, mint and alcohol-free sparkling; and the Spritz Del Conte is an Italian-style alcohol-free spritz. The kitchen and bar also keep additional non-alcoholic wine, beer and spirits available on request.

The Tatarian

Berkeley

Cocktail Bar
NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?·5 NA brands

The Tatarian is a contemporary neighbourhood cocktail bar on Tennyson Street in Berkeley, opened in 2018 and named for the Tatarian maples that shade the sidewalks outside. Its drinks are themed around trees of the world, and the theme extends into the non-alcoholic list: the house zero-proof cocktail, Luna, is named in honour of the activist Julia Butterfly Hill, who occupied a thousand-year-old California redwood to stop it being logged. Unusually for a Denver bar, the back bar carries non-alcoholic spirits as stocked bottles rather than as a single house pour — CleanCo Tequila Blanco, Lyre's London Spirit and Seedlip Garden 108 are all listed by the glass — alongside Partake's non-alcoholic IPA. 303 Magazine picked the bar out in its 2025 sober-summer guide.

The Venetian Soda Lounge

South End Arts District

Lounge
NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?·1 NA brand

The Venetian Soda Lounge is a 1920s-styled hideaway in Burlington's South End Arts District, built around a family soda recipe: Venetian Ginger Ale, a Burlington brand lost during the Second World War and revived in 2017. The lounge opened on Pine Street in 2022 and prints a full Zero Proof mocktails section — six drinks at $9 to $12, three of them built on CleanCo's alcohol-free gin and whiskey — alongside seven house-made craft sodas at $5, soda floats, creemees and milkshakes. It serves alcohol too, but it is the rare licensed room where the non-alcoholic side is the founding idea rather than an accommodation. Live jazz, low light, closed Monday and Tuesday.

Wildwood Kitchen & Bar

Pavilions

Restaurant
NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?·1 NA brand

Wildwood Kitchen & Bar at Pavilions builds its blood orange margarita on CleanCo alcohol-free tequila rather than leaving the spirit out, which is the difference between a margarita and a limeade. There is also a lychee Moscow mule mocktail and Heineken 0.0 for anyone who wants a beer in hand. Stocking a named non-alcoholic tequila is a purchasing decision with only one purpose — serving people who are not drinking — and it means the drink keeps the agave note that makes a margarita taste like one. It is out at Pavilions in Arden-Arcade rather than downtown, and opens from 10am at weekends for brunch.

Japp's Since 1879

Over-the-Rhine

Cocktail Bar
NA Program Strength: 3 of 5?·1 NA brand

Japp's Since 1879 is a historical-cocktail bar in Over-the-Rhine, opened in 2010 by celebrated Cincinnati bartender Molly Wellmann inside a 19th-century building that started as John G. Japp's hair-and-wig shop. Its specialty is drinks from the 1700s through the 1950s, made with housemade simple syrups, fresh herbs, berries, juices and floral waters, and that same craft carries over to what Wellmann calls "nonnys." Non-alcoholic selections sit right on the regular menu, usually two rotating house zero-proof cocktails built on CleanCo non-alcoholic gin: past pours include the Beehive Jive (chai, honey, pineapple, lemon, orange-blossom water), while the current menu lists Jade without the Fade and Pomade & Pomelo. NA beers (Sam Adams Just the Haze, Budweiser 0.0) round out the list. TV-free and intentionally old-school.
