    Tall Order

    East Somerville

NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?

Tall Order is a New American bar and restaurant at 70 Beacon Street in East Somerville, opened in March 2025 by Daren Swisher and Joe Cammarata, who also run Daiquiris and Daisies in Boston. It occupies the former Thirsty Scholar Pub, a fixture near the Somerville-Cambridge line for close to thirty years before it closed in 2024. The drinks menu is deliberately split into full-strength, low-ABV and a section headed No Alcohol, so the alcohol-free options sit on the same page and at comparable prices rather than being relegated. Three named zero-proof cocktails are listed at $12.36 each, backed by non-alcoholic beer, non-alcoholic sparkling rose, a canned zero-proof negroni, hop water and fountain soda.

Order: 1,2,3,4 (Earl Grey, verjus, vanilla, mango foam, tajin) · Blue Shroom (Oddbird N/A sparkling rose, blueberry, cardamom, mushroom) · Bitter Bali (Lucano and Giffard N/A bitter, pineapple, Gracenote cold brew)

NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?

Knight Moves is a board game cafe on Beacon Street near Coolidge Corner, and one of the few places in the metro that keeps bar hours without a bar. It opens at 5pm on weeknights and runs to 11pm, and on Friday and Saturday it stays open until 2am. Guests pay a fee to take a table and play from a large game library, and the espresso counter runs the whole time. The menu carries no alcohol: espresso drinks, chai, matcha and London Fog tea lattes, hot chocolate, sodas, soda floats and milkshakes in vanilla, chocolate, Nutella, strawberry, espresso and banana, plus a rotating seasonal list of turmeric lattes, peaflower lemonade, blackberry mocha and strawberry matcha. Sandwiches and snacks fill out the food. Guests may bring their own alcohol for a per-person fee.

    Brick & Mortar

    Central Square, Cambridge

NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?

Brick & Mortar is a cocktail bar at 567 Massachusetts Avenue in Central Square, Cambridge, entered through an unmarked door beside Central Kitchen and marked only by a small sign once you are inside. It is known for an adventurous cocktail list and for running craft cocktail classes for groups, and it keeps a standing Zero Proof Cocktails section on the printed menu rather than improvising alcohol-free drinks on request. Three zero-proof cocktails are listed at $15 each, matching the pricing and the build complexity of the full-strength list, and they use commercial non-alcoholic spirits — Landry London Dry, Lyre's Italian Orange, Spirit of Milano and non-alcoholic Lucano amaro — rather than juice-and-soda substitutes. It trades Monday through Saturday and is closed Sundays.

Order: Less Than Zero (zero-alcohol spritz: Stappi Italian Red, Spirit of Milano non-alcoholic amaro, strawberry, fresh lime & grapefruit, over ice) · The Count Camillo (zero-proof Negroni: Landry London Dry non-alcoholic gin, Lyre's Italian Orange non-alcoholic aperitivo, non-alcoholic Lucano amaro) · Hong Kong Garden (non-alcoholic ginger spirit, pineapple, lime, Peychaud's bitters)

    Hecate

    Back Bay

NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?

Hecate is an underground cocktail bar in Back Bay, reached through a door off Public Alley 443 and sitting below its sibling Greek restaurant Krasi. It opened in April 2022 from the Krasi team, with Demetri Tsolakis among the co-owners alongside Stefanos Ougrinis, Tasha Breshinsky and Kayla Padilla, and takes its name and its occult styling from the Greek goddess of witchcraft and crossroads. Drinks arrive via a leather-bound book of spells, each cocktail tied to a piece of folklore, and the alcohol-free builds sit within that same framework under a dedicated Zero Proof list. They are not simplified: the spirit-free drinks use clarified milk, aquafaba, saline, bittering roots and house cordials, and are constructed with the same number of steps as the full-proof menu.

Order: Copal Oro · Theta Range · Eighth Tower

Hours: Mon closed; Tue-Sat 5pm-1am; Sun closed

The drinks list carries a named alcohol-free section headed Free Spirit, built on zero-proof tequila and bourbon rather than juice, priced at $14 for the spirit-based builds. It opens Friday through Sunday only.

    Roslindale

NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?

Schubert worked in design before moving into hospitality, and the business is certified with the City of Boston as a Minority Business Enterprise, Woman Business Enterprise and Small Local Business Enterprise. The kitchen, led by executive chef Rory Lee, runs a made-from-scratch seasonal menu across breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. The bar keeps a standing Zero Proof section of four cocktails at $10, all built on non-alcoholic spirits rather than juice: Remember Me with AMASS Riverine, Bad Decisions with Everleaf Forest, Threat Level Midnight with Zero Zero Amaro and cold brew, and the Arbore'rum with Ritual Proof Rum. Two non-alcoholic beers are poured alongside them.

It is open 8am to midnight every day of the week, which is unusual for the neighborhood. Its non-alcoholic list is a full themed menu that rotates rather than a token section; the current one is Studio Ghibli-themed and headed "Rated NA: Non Alcoholic!", with every alcohol-free drink priced at $11.

    Hojoko

    Fenway (The Verb Hotel)

NA Program Strength: 4 of 5?

Hojoko is the Japanese tavern at the Verb Hotel in the Fenway, opened by Tim and Nancy Cushman of o ya as a louder, later counterpart to their tasting-menu restaurant. Maki, ramen, robata skewers and a vinyl lounge share the room with a drinks list that is best known for scorpion bowls, and the bar keeps a printed section called DRY/DAMP for drinks with no alcohol in them. Arwa Yemeni Coffee is a late-night Yemeni coffeehouse in Brookline's Coolidge Corner, opened in March 2026 as the first Massachusetts outpost of a small Texas-based chain. No alcohol is served, and the room is built for staying: the kitchen and bar run past 10pm every night of the week and to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. The Quincy store runs to 9pm on weeknights and to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, and its roughly 1,700 square feet are split between table seating and a lounge area of sofas meant for long stays. How this page decides what counts

Three facts, all verified, all required. The venue has to rate at least 4 of 5 for its non-alcoholic program — a fully alcohol-free room, or a licensed venue with a strong named zero-proof list, the same floor our Boston sober bars page uses. It has to be somewhere you can sit, so bottle shops are out. And its hours have to run past midnight on at least one night, which is what makes this a nightlife page rather than a second copy of the sober bars list: at that cut a restaurant with a good zero-proof menu drops out, and the bars, lounges, kava bars and late coffeehouses remain.

“No alcohol served” is written on a card only when the venue's own verified description says so — never inferred from a rating or a name. Everything else here is a bar with a real non-alcoholic program, and it is labelled as a bar. Hours are the venue's live listing, re-synced weekly; the drinks on each venue page were read off its current menu and carry the date we last confirmed them.
