Alcohol-Free Things to Do in Columbus
Columbus is a city whose alcohol-free depth sits inside its bars rather than beside them. The city tried a dedicated sober bar — The Dry Mill, downtown, opened by two friends in recovery in 2022 — and it closed after seven months, and nothing has replaced it. What grew instead is a run of printed zero-proof sections on serious drinks lists, and they are concentrated on about a hundred metres of North High Street: The Guild House prints a six-deep ZERO PROOF list with Seedlip, Lyre's and a bottle of alcohol-removed sparkling, Soul at The Joseph builds four zero-proof drinks alongside its Lost Cocktails of Columbus programme, and Marcella's is directly across the road. Lincoln Social's ninth-floor rooftop gives its Spiritless section the same weight as its low-ABV band. The other centre of gravity is the Brewery District, where Law Bird — a 2025 James Beard semifinalist voted the city's best NA drink menu by Columbus Underground readers — puts named N/A cocktails on every menu it prints and will build most of the full-proof list without alcohol at a lower price, and Cobra a few doors up uses its no-proof drinks to carry the same Asian-American flavours as the rest of the bar. Columbus also brews its own non-alcoholic beer: Good Liar, a Midwest IPA under 0.5% ABV, turns up on lists at Cobra, Comune and Lincoln Social. The genuinely alcohol-free rooms are few. Casa Cacao in Old North is the city's first and only kava and cacao bar — and kava is a sedating psychoactive botanical rather than a soft drink, which is worth knowing before ordering a shot — while Better Beverage, the metro's only all-NA bottle shop, trades through pop-ups and delivery out of Westerville rather than a storefront. For buying, the widest range under one roof is the forty-strong zero-proof end cap at The Hills Market Downtown. Whether you want a morning coffee, a craft mocktail at night, or a bottle to take home, here's how to plan it in Columbus — no drinking required.

Cobra
Brewery District
Cobra is an Asian-American bar on South High Street in the Brewery District, opened in October 2023 by four owners — Alex Chen and Jack Bennett, who helped open Watershed Kitchen + Bar, and David Yee and Josh Spiers, both previously of Oddfellows. It bills itself as a "good night bar," pairing a cocktail programme built on Asian ingredients with handmade noodles served late. The non-alcoholic drinks are treated as an extension of that flavour perspective rather than a fallback: the Pool Float is a no-proof build that carries the serrano and cilantro notes of the bar's Above Ground Pool cocktail, and All Gas No Brakes is a no-proof boilermaker pairing Pathfinder's non-alcoholic amaro with a locally owned non-alcoholic IPA. Bar manager David Yee was one of the bartenders Forbes surveyed on 2025 drink trends.
Huli Huli Tiki Lounge
Powell
Huli Huli Tiki Lounge is the original of Dustin Sun's two Columbus-area tiki bars, occupying a former antique shop in downtown Powell, north of the city. Tiki is a format that translates unusually well to zero-proof drinking — the classics are built on fruit, syrup, spice and dilution as much as on rum — and Huli Huli leans into that rather than treating it as a compromise. Alcohol-free versions of the house drinks are made to order, including the Honolulu Mule and a zero-proof Blue Hawaii sold as the Untrod Beach, and there are non-alcoholic builds designed as such: the Baby Aspirin, a blend of pineapple, orange and cream of coconut served in a coconut cup, and the Seafoam Sipper of cream soda, pandan and mint. The room keeps early hours by bar standards, opening at 1pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
Huli Huli Tiki Lounge
Downtown
The second Huli Huli Tiki Lounge opened on 20 May 2026 in the long-vacant Jury Room space at 22 East Mound Street, downtown — a room with a bar lineage running back to the nineteenth century, now fitted out as a tiki lounge by owner Dustin Sun. The drinks programme follows the Powell original, which means the alcohol-free side is unusually deep for a new opening: house cocktails including the Honolulu Mule, the Blue Hawaiian and the Baby Aspirin are all served in alcohol-free versions built to order rather than swapped for a soft drink. Because tiki drinks are constructed from fruit, spice, syrup and dilution, the zero-proof versions read as complete rather than hollowed out. The downtown room keeps shorter hours than Powell, opening Wednesday to Saturday evenings only.
Law Bird
Brewery District
Law Bird is the Brewery District cocktail bar opened in November 2019 by married owners Annie Williams Pierce and Luke Pierce, both career bartenders; in 2017 Williams Pierce became the first woman to win the United States Bartenders Guild's Most Imaginative Bartender competition in London. The bar was a 2025 James Beard Foundation semifinalist for Outstanding Bar and has been named among the best bars in the United States by Food & Wine. Columbus Underground readers voted it the city's best non-alcoholic drink menu in the 2025 Best of Columbus poll. Roughly three new cocktail menus are released a year, each carrying named N/A cocktails alongside the full-proof list, and most specialty cocktails can be built without alcohol at a reduced price. Non-alcoholic beer comes from Athletic Brewing and Best Day.
Lincoln Social Rooftop
Short North
Lincoln Social Rooftop is a Cameron Mitchell bar on the ninth floor of 711 North High Street in the Short North, with a retractable roof, a fire pit and skyline views. It is a 21-and-over room. The cocktail menu is organised into four bands — Bold & Boozy, Easy Drinking, Sessions: Low ABV and Classics — and one of them, headed Spiritless, is entirely non-alcoholic. That list runs eight deep and is built rather than poured: a Mean & Green of serrano, celery, agave, cilantro and lime; No Secrets, which combines Töst sparkling tea with Giffard aperitif and lemon; an Espresso & Tonic; and a Blueberry Iced Tea infused with earl grey. Alongside them sit Mionetto alcohol-removed sparkling by glass or bottle, Best Day Brewing's Electro Lime and Good Liar's Midwest IPA, the non-alcoholic beer brewed in Columbus.
Accent Wine Parlor
Downtown
Accent Wine Parlor is a wine shop and tasting room in the historic Citizens Building on North High Street downtown, opened in August 2021 by sommelier Gregory Stokes with chef Joshua Dalton of Veritas. It works as both retail and a room to sit and drink in, running daily tastings, weekly classes and local delivery across the Columbus metro alongside bottles from $10 to collector prices. For non-drinkers the relevant part is a maintained non-alcoholic collection rather than a token bottle or two — alcohol-removed still and sparkling wines from producers including Leitz, and Copenhagen Sparkling Tea, the Danish tea-based alternative that behaves like wine at the table rather than like a soft drink. The shop also makes its own syrups. Open Tuesday to Saturday afternoons and evenings.
DENMARK on High
Short North
DENMARK on High is a second-floor cocktail lounge in the restored Yankee Trader building — now Yankee on High — at the southern gateway to the Short North, overlooking the Columbus Convention Center. It opened in 2014 in what had been a furniture showroom, and is built around a no-television, no-distraction room and a from-scratch bar programme: house bitters, house infusions, house syrups and shrubs. The current menu carries a small non-alcoholic section rather than a token line, with two built drinks — Not A Dream, a tropical construction of non-alcoholic gin, fruit purée, coconut cream and lime, pineapple and orange juice, and the Cucumber No-Jito of lime juice, mint syrup and cucumber soda. The bar also runs small-group cocktail classes and opens Wednesday to Saturday evenings only.
Goodale Station
Downtown
Goodale Station is the twelfth-floor rooftop bar and restaurant of the Canopy by Hilton Columbus Downtown Short North, on Nationwide Boulevard between downtown and the Short North. The room is glass-enclosed with outdoor terraces on either side, which keeps it usable year-round rather than seasonally. Its alcohol-free drinks are treated as part of the regular list and, according to local coverage, sell like it: the Don't Carrot All and the Berry Manilow are described as bestsellers of the season rather than as accommodations. Alongside the named AF cocktails the bar keeps a rotating range of shrubs — vinegar-based drinks built from fruit, herbs and sugar, sweet and sharp at once — which change through the year. Brunch runs at weekends from 11am and the bar stays open to 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.
High Bank Distillery Co.
Grandview Yard
High Bank Distillery Co. is a working distillery with a full pub attached, established in 2017 on Goodale Boulevard in Grandview Yard. It takes its name from the high bank above the fork of the Scioto and Olentangy rivers, and produces bourbon, rye, gin, vodka and apple brandy on site alongside a modern American kitchen serving lunch, dinner, brunch and late night. Unusually for a distillery pub, it keeps non-alcoholic cocktails on the menu year-round rather than only through Dry January: local coverage currently names a non-alcoholic mule, the blackberry-purée Berry Burlesque, a Cinnamon Apple and Wings Over Ohio, with earlier menus carrying a Beachside Coffee of cold brew, honey syrup, blood orange and citrus and a cranberry-vanilla Lost Jewel. The list rotates seasonally.
Mouton
Short North
Mouton is a long-running cocktail bar at the northern end of the Short North Arts District, serving specialty and classic drinks in a dark, narrow room that has been part of the district's bar landscape for over a decade. Its non-alcoholic drinks are a standing part of the menu rather than a January promotion: local coverage notes that Mouton offers mocktails year-round, and that demand for them climbs through Dry January, Dry July and Sober October. Three have become the ones regulars order — a zero-proof Painkiller, the Thai Me Down, and The Hidden Temple. The bar opens at 5pm Wednesday through Sunday and runs to midnight at weekends, and is closed at the start of the week.
VASO Rooftop Lounge
Dublin (Bridge Park)
VASO is a rooftop lounge above Bridge Park in Dublin, at the north-western edge of the Columbus metro, serving Spanish-inspired tapas with skyline views over the Scioto. It took gold for Best Rooftop Dining in CityScene Magazine's 2025 Best of the 'Bus reader poll. The cocktail menu carries a dedicated no-proof section rather than a single token drink, and the builds use proper non-alcoholic spirits: Everybody Loves Juniper is made with Lyre's London Dry, a house tonic syrup, lemon and soda; the Spice Orange combines Seedlip Citrus with fresh lime, orange and ginger beer; and the house VASO G&T is offered zero-proof with Seedlip Garden, bergamot, lavender, juniper and tonka bean over sparkling Mediterranean tonic. The bar opens at 4pm on weekdays and 2pm on Saturdays.
Dinner & a sit-down
Restaurants with a real non-alcoholic drink menu, not just soda.
Soul at The Joseph
Short North
Soul is the ground-floor bar and restaurant of Le Méridien Columbus, The Joseph, on North High Street in the Short North, open from 6am for breakfast through to late. Its cocktail programme is built around a research-led list called the Lost Cocktails of Columbus, which revives drinks tied to the city's own bar history — the Deshler, the Kahiki Coffee Grog and the Midwestern Negroni among them. A separate printed section headed ZERO-PROOF BEVERAGES carries four built drinks rather than a list of sodas: the Casablanca Fog and the Lawn Dart, both made with Garden Spirit, kiwi, kefir and agave; an Orange Blossom of Lyre's non-alcoholic gin with house orange cordial and New Orleans N/A bitters; and an Old Old Fashioned using Lyre's non-alcoholic whiskey with ginger and non-alcoholic orange bitters.
The Guild House
Short North
The Guild House is Cameron Mitchell Restaurants' farm-to-table dining room on North High Street in the Short North, and was awarded One Michelin Key in 2024. Its beverage menu carries a printed section headed ZERO PROOF, which is what separates it from the many Columbus restaurants that will improvise something on request. The section runs six deep: Mionetto alcohol-removed sparkling wine from the Veneto by the glass or bottle, an Orange Spritz built on a spiritless aperitif and the same Mionetto, a Citrus Ginger made with Seedlip Grove 42, lime and candied ginger, a Blackberry Smash of blackberries, pomegranate and fresh citrus, an Espresso No-Tini using Lyre's coffee originale with fresh espresso, brown sugar and cinnamon, and a rotating Athletic Brewing non-alcoholic beer. Prices sit between $7 and $11.
Bonifacio
Fifth by Northwest
Bonifacio is a modern Filipino restaurant on King Avenue in Fifth by Northwest, founded in 2016 by Krizzia Yanga, a Columbus native who had earlier introduced the city to Filipino cooking through her Red Velvet Café and who was named a Columbus Monthly Tastemaker in 2021. The restaurant is best known for its Boodle Nights, communal kamayan feasts eaten by hand from banana leaves piled with sticky rice, longganisa, lumpia, pickled vegetables and shrimp. The drinks list is written to match those flavours rather than to sit apart from them, and the non-alcoholic side draws on the same pantry: the Ube Colada is built from ube simple syrup with lime, pineapple and coconut cream, using the purple yam that runs through Filipino desserts. Open Tuesday to Sunday, with weekend service from 10am.
Comune
Schumacher Place
Comune is a plant-based — and very nearly vegan — restaurant on Parsons Avenue in Schumacher Place, working a spare Scandinavian dining room and a seasonal, locally sourced menu under executive chef Zachery Riddle. It was named among Columbus Monthly's best restaurants in the city for 2025. The bar runs a root-to-stem cocktail programme alongside natural wine and herbal digestifs, and marks its non-alcoholic options directly on the printed menu: cocktails available zero-proof carry a degree symbol, currently the Vermouth + Tonic at $8, the Alta Highball at $10 and the Comune Sour at $14. Beneath them sit house-made sodas at $6 — lemon and ginger, blueberry and cardamom shrub, or charred pineapple shrub — plus Casamara Club amaro soda and Good Liar, the non-alcoholic IPA brewed in Columbus.
Marcella's
Short North
Marcella's is Cameron Mitchell Restaurants' Italian dining room on North High Street in the Short North, across the street from The Guild House and Soul at The Joseph, and it prints its zero-proof drinks on the same beverage list as the cocktails. There are two built non-alcoholic cocktails: Strawberry Fields, made with Seedlip Citrus, strawberry and a lemon foam, and a Citrus Spritz of Lyre's Italian Orange lengthened with alcohol-removed sparkling wine — an alcohol-free reading of the Aperol spritz that is otherwise unavoidable on an Italian menu. A rotating Athletic Brewing non-alcoholic beer sits alongside them. The coffee list is genuinely part of the drinks offering rather than an afterthought, including Il Finto Espresso with vanilla and honey and an affogato of vanilla gelato drowned in hot espresso.

Better Beverage
Westerville
Better Beverage is a fully non-alcoholic bottle shop serving the Columbus metro, founded by Mary LaPlaca and based in Westerville. It has no storefront: the shop trades through pop-ups, event bars, tastings, local delivery and a wholesale programme for bars and restaurants, with orders taken by email. Everything it stocks is alcohol-free, and the buying policy is unusually explicit — LaPlaca curates ready-to-drink brands that are women-, LGBTQ+-, veteran-, minority- or family-owned, or that work to a sustainability standard, rather than simply carrying whatever distributes into Ohio. LaPlaca has written that Al-Anon changed her life and that she started the business after realising Columbus had no shop dedicated to non-alcoholic drinks, bringing two decades of work as an artist to the venture.
The Hills Market Downtown
Discovery District
The Hills Market Downtown is an independent grocer on North Grant Avenue in the Discovery District, and it is the closest thing Columbus has to a bricks-and-mortar zero-proof bottle shop. Rather than scattering non-alcoholic products through the beer and wine aisles, the store runs a dedicated end cap of nearly forty different alcohol-free wines, beers and spirits — non-alcoholic gin, whiskey, tequila and rum, ready-to-drink cocktails and gin and tonics, dry sodas and alcohol-free sparkling wine. That breadth matters in a city with no dedicated non-alcoholic retailer: it is the only place in central Columbus where a shopper can compare a range of zero-proof spirits side by side before buying. The market also serves prepared food and coffee and has run occasional happy hours.
