1923 Prohibition Bar is a hidden speakeasy inside The Shoppes at Mandalay Place, Suite 200B, on the indoor walkway that connects Mandalay Bay to the Luxor, next door to the Minus5 Ice Bar. The entrance is a bookcase, and finding it is the whole point, though no password is required once you have. Inside is a Roaring Twenties room — dim, plush lounge seating, low light, closer in feel to a New Orleans speakeasy than a Strip cocktail lounge. Live entertainment runs Friday and Saturday from around 9:30pm to midnight with no cover, billed as N.O.L.A. Nights and mixing musical performances with burlesque, and a separate magic show plays Friday through Sunday in a hidden chamber off the main room with a limited ticket count. A second 1923 has since opened at the Venetian's Grand Canal Shoppes, but the Mandalay Bay room is the original and remains the flagship.

The list is whisky- and bourbon-forward, which is what a Prohibition-themed bar is supposed to be, and the useful thing for a non-drinker is that it does not stop there. The bar keeps a dedicated Zero Proof section anchored on Lyre's non-alcoholic spirits, with three named builds: the Zer-Old Fashioned made with Lyre's American Malt, Summer on the Wagon made with Lyre's Pink Gin, and the Kats Meow. For anyone who would rather have a beer, Lagunitas IPNA non-alcoholic IPA pours on draft rather than arriving in a bottle from the back. The practical result is that a guest who does not drink can sit through a burlesque set in a dark speakeasy with a proper Old Fashioned glass in hand, which is a specific and surprisingly rare thing to be able to do on the Las Vegas Strip. The bar opens daily at 11am, running to midnight Sunday through Thursday and to 2am on Friday and Saturday.
