Herb & Sea is a modern seafood restaurant in downtown Encinitas, steps from Moonlight State Beach, opened in November 2019 as the coastal sister to Brian Malarkey's Herb & Wood (both run by Puffer Malarkey Collective). The kitchen focuses on wood-fired cooking and sustainably sourced local fish, and that seasonal approach carries into a rotating beverage program with a dedicated "Spirit Free" section. Current named zero-proof drinks include "Luke, I Did It Again" (hibiscus tea, strawberry, vanilla, lemon, soda) and a Pentire N/A cocktail offered as a spritz, dirty martini, or rosemary and tonic, plus Kollo single-origin iced tea; NA beer options include Athletic Brewing's Run Wild IPA. A lively beach-town spot where non-drinkers get composed builds rather than an afterthought.

Pure Project is a sustainability-focused San Diego craft brewery founded in 2015, best known for its ingredient-driven, hazy IPAs. Its North Park taproom on El Cajon Boulevard pours 20 taps in a tucked-away courtyard with URBN Pizza handling food. In April 2026 the brewery expanded into non-alcoholic beer, brewing two house NA options now poured year-round at all five of its taprooms: Grounded, an NA IPA built on Citra and Mosaic hops with lemongrass, citrus, and resin notes; and Sunsip, an NA blonde ale with flavors of fresh-baked bread, jasmine, and lemon peel — both below 0.5% ABV. The NA beers are made in-house under the same ingredient-focused ethos as the brewery's alcoholic lineup, giving sober and sober-curious drinkers a genuine craft option.

AleSmith Brewing Company, founded in 1995 and owned since 2002 by Peter Zien, is one of San Diego's flagship craft breweries. Its large Miramar tasting room — a two-story space with a patio, games, and a Tony Gwynn memorabilia museum — pours the brewery's own house-brewed non-alcoholic line alongside its full beer lineup. The NA program centers on AleSmith NA IPA (tangerine and pine, under 0.5% ABV, 75 calories) and NA Speedway, a non-alcoholic take on the brewery's iconic Speedway Stout with dark chocolate, espresso, and roasted-malt notes, plus a Nelson Sauvin hop water on tap — a zero-proof, zero-calorie option. The NA IPA has earned real recognition, taking medals at the California Craft Brewers Cup and the San Diego Beer News Awards.

Good News Bar is San Diego's first dedicated 100% alcohol-free bar, opened in Hillcrest in mid-July 2025 with an integrated non-alcoholic bottle shop. The concept was created by married former bartenders Kaylee and Crystal Clark, who left drinking behind in recovery; since August 2025 the bar has been operated by its majority owner, Ality Richardson. It is named after Mac Miller's song "Good News" and frames itself around raising awareness of addiction and mental health. The house line is coffee by day, cocktails by night, community always: mornings bring coffee, tea, functional cocktails and freshly baked pastries, while evenings run "functional" cocktails built around adaptogens, nootropics, nervines, kava and hemp-derived CBD alongside "free-spirited" builds that reimagine classics with non-alcoholic spirits, plus apéritifs, dealcoholized wines, NA beers and cider. Signature zero-proof drinks include The Merry Go Round, The Woods, Deborah Downer and Goosebumpz. Trivia, live music and DJ nights fill the calendar.

Monday Morning is San Diego's first exclusively non-alcoholic bottle shop and tasting room, opened in Pacific Beach in late 2024 by founder Zane Curtis after he embraced a sober lifestyle. The shop stocks more than 500 zero-proof products — non-alcoholic beer (IPAs, lagers, stouts, sours, wheat), dealcoholized wine, spirit alternatives (gin, whiskey, tequila, rum), ready-to-drink mocktails, and functional drinks with adaptogens and nootropics — across 50-plus brands including Athletic, Bravus, Partake, Seedlip, and Ritual. A tasting bar lets customers sample anything before buying, with staff guiding selections. Curtis's business also handles NA distribution, custom recipes, staff training, and events, and in January 2026 it opened a second location in Ocean Beach.

Monday Morning is a fully alcohol-free bottle shop and tasting bar in Ocean Beach, the second San Diego location from founder Zane Curtis, opened January 2, 2026 at 4967 Newport Ave inside the OB Business Center — on the one-year anniversary of the original Pacific Beach store. It stocks more than 500 zero-proof products: non-alcoholic beer, dealcoholized wine, spirit alternatives, ready-to-drink mocktails, and functional drinks across 50-plus brands including Athletic, Bravus, Partake, Seedlip, and Ritual. A tasting bar lets customers try anything before buying, and because the OB space is compact, the team opens the windows to serve the boardwalk. It's a genuine alcohol-free retail-and-tasting destination steps from the beach.

How we know a San Diego bar has NA beer
Three kinds of evidence put a venue on this page, and each card says which. The strongest is a menu we've read: the exact beers, the price where the menu prints one, and the date we confirmed it. Next are breweries — a brewery is in this directory because it pours non-alcoholic beer, often its own. Last are venues whose own menu or copy names a specific NA brand they carry. Nothing here is inferred from a review or a vague “great NA selection”.
“Non-alcoholic” is a legal band, not a promise of zero: under 0.5% ABV in the US, with “alcohol-free” reserved for 0.0%. The big lagers (Heineken 0.0, Guinness 0.0) are labeled 0.0%; most craft NA beers sit somewhere under 0.5%. We name the brand wherever the venue does so you can check the label that matters to you.
Draft NA beer is spreading but still uncommon, so we never assume it. A pour is marked “on draft” only when the venue's menu says tap or draft; everything else should be read as cans or bottles.
Frequently asked about non-alcoholic beer in San Diego
We've verified 6 places in San Diego with non-alcoholic beer: Herb & Sea, Pure Project, AleSmith Brewing Company and more below. 2 list it on a menu we've read line by line; the rest are breweries, or venues that name a specific NA beer brand they carry. Every listing shows when we last checked.
Usually not quite. In the US, beer labeled "non-alcoholic" must be under 0.5% ABV — a trace level also found in some ripe fruit and kombucha — while "alcohol-free" means 0.0%. Most craft NA beers (Athletic, Best Day, Untitled Art) sit between 0.0% and 0.5%; Heineken 0.0 and Guinness 0.0 are labeled 0.0%. Rules differ abroad: in the UK "alcohol-free" is 0.05% or under and "de-alcoholised" up to 0.5%. If you avoid alcohol entirely, look for a 0.0% label — we name the brand wherever the venue does, so you can check.
Draft NA beer is still the exception: most bars serve it in cans or bottles, and that is what to expect. We flag "on draft" only when a venue's own menu says tap or draft — none of the current San Diego listings has a menu-confirmed draft pour yet. If a listing doesn't say draft, assume packaged.
On the San Diego menus and listings we've verified, the most-carried brands are Athletic Brewing (3 venues), Bravus Brewing (2 venues), Partake Brewing (2 venues). Each brand on this page links to everywhere else it is poured.
