Fleur de Tea is a fully alcohol-free tea house and café that opened in November 2020 on Meeting Street in Norton Commons, the walkable new-urbanist development north-east of Louisville in Prospect. It runs a genuinely broad leaf programme — classic black and green teas sourced internationally, seasonal blends, and a modern bubble tea list — served in a room designed to be sat in rather than passed through, with substantial seating and a bakery counter known for its scones. Regulars single out the lavender Earl Grey latte and the strawberry basil tea. In a metro with no alcohol-free bar and only one kava lounge, it is one of very few rooms where the social offer contains no alcohol at all.

Cultured is a locally, female-owned cheese and charcuterie bar in Butchertown, now operating inside the Copper & Kings building at the rooftop level after moving from its original East Main Street shop. It builds shared boards from farmstead cheeses and cured meats and serves them with a drinks list that includes named alcohol-free options — a Tart Cherry Old Fashioned, a Turmeric Ginger Mule and a Cucumber Aloe Margarita, built on mixers from the Louisville company Modica. bar Vetti is an Italian restaurant and bar on East Market Street in NuLu, and it runs one of the most technically serious non-alcoholic lists in Louisville. Rather than sweetening juice, the bar rebuilds Italian aperitivo structure without alcohol: the N.A.-Groni is a zero-proof negroni using Ritual Zero Proof alongside Martini & Rossi Floreale and Vibrante, the two de-alcoholised vermouth-style aperitifs, and the Impostore Spritz and Bianca Spritz work the same bitter-and-bubbles register that the room's alcoholic list is built on. Non-alcoholic beer from Athletic Brewing and Lagunitas is stocked alongside. Dinner runs nightly with lunch midweek and weekend brunch.

Proof on Main is the restaurant and bar of the 21c Museum Hotel on West Main Street, open since 2006 and a fixture of Louisville dining, with a bar holding more than 75 Kentucky bourbons. Its non-alcoholic programme is among the deepest in the city and is built on stock rather than improvisation: the bar carries the full Lyre's range plus Spiritless Kentucky 74 and Jalisco 55, the Louisville-made non-alcoholic bourbon and tequila, and NKD LDY de-alcoholised gin, and it makes its own ginger ale and tonic water in house. The Pine Room is a neighbourhood restaurant in historic Harrods Creek, on River Road north-east of Louisville, and it keeps one of the better-stocked non-alcoholic back bars in the metro. Rather than a single token bottle it carries both of the Louisville-made Spiritless expressions — Kentucky 74, the non-alcoholic bourbon, and Jalisco 55, the non-alcoholic tequila — which means the two drinks most people actually want, an old fashioned and a paloma, can both be built properly here without alcohol. The paloma is the one the city's zero-proof coverage names. Dinner runs Tuesday to Sunday with weekend brunch from 9am, and the room sits close enough to the Ohio River to make the drive worthwhile.

Fork & Barrel is a Southern restaurant on lower Frankfort Avenue in Clifton, sharing its venue with sister operation Morning Fork, and the two run a shared mocktail list rather than leaving non-drinkers to the soda gun. The named builds are a sweet pepper lemonade, Molly & Lucy's Punch and the Ain't Easy Being Green, which between them cover a savoury-sweet long drink, a punch and a herbaceous option — a wider spread than most restaurant bars attempt. Louisville's official visitor bureau lists the venue in its guide to where to drink alcohol-free in the city. Service runs Tuesday to Saturday afternoons and evenings, closed Sunday and Monday.

Naïve occupies a corner building on East Washington Street in Butchertown and has been one of Louisville's more health-conscious restaurants since it opened, winning LEO Weekly's Readers Choice for Best Butchertown Restaurant and building a reputation on vegetable-forward cooking and an eco-minded operation. Its earlier menu carried a genuinely developed alcohol-free list — a Grapefruit Thyme Spritz, a ginger turmeric mule using the Louisville-made Modica mixers, and an apricot tarragon shrub soda — and Louisville's visitor bureau listed it among the city's best mocktail stops on that basis. The kitchen has since relaunched with a Latin-leaning menu, so ask what the current alcohol-free builds are.

Pizza Lupo is a wood-fired Neapolitan pizzeria on Frankfort Avenue, opened in 2017 by the musicians Adam Turla and Sarah Balliet of Murder By Death with chef Max Balliet of Holy Molé. The drinks programme is natural wine, Italian amari and a full bar, and — unusually for a room that specific about its wine list — it prints a non-alcoholic menu described plainly as being for designated drivers. The Chinotto Dream is the build regulars name, running on chinotto, the bitter Italian citrus soda that is the closest thing in the soft-drink world to an aperitivo. Service is nightly from 5pm.

Seviche is chef Anthony Lamas's Latin restaurant on Bardstown Road in the Deer Park stretch of the Highlands, and one of Louisville's longest-standing serious kitchens — Lamas is a James Beard semifinalist and a familiar face from television. The bar makes a non-alcoholic mojito as standard and, more usefully, the staff will build a bespoke alcohol-free cocktail on request rather than pointing at the soft drinks. In a Latin kitchen that is a meaningful offer: the house already keeps muddled herbs, citrus, agave syrups and fruit purées for the cocktail list, so an alcohol-free drink starts from real components. Dinner runs seven nights from 5pm.

Volare is a long-running Italian restaurant on Frankfort Avenue in Clifton, named Best Italian Restaurant by readers of Louisville Magazine three years running, with a seasonal menu built on locally sourced produce and house-made pasta. Its place in a non-alcoholic guide rests on one thing done properly: the bar builds Spiritless Manhattans, using the Louisville-made non-alcoholic bourbon Kentucky 74 in place of rye or bourbon. A manhattan is a spirit-forward, stirred, undiluted drink — the hardest category to render without alcohol and the one most bars refuse to attempt — so a restaurant offering it as standard is making a real claim. Dinner runs seven nights from 4:30pm.

Watch Hill Proper is a bourbon bar and restaurant in Norton Commons, the walkable development in Prospect north-east of Louisville, and it claims the largest bourbon collection in the country alongside the most extensive American whiskey menu it can assemble. That is exactly the sort of room a non-drinker usually writes off — which is why it matters that it also keeps Spiritless Kentucky 74, the non-alcoholic bourbon made in Louisville, on the menu.
